Disaster. Wild. I guess the main reason I enjoyed FSX so much when I first got it was that I hadn't discovered Avsim yet. I was like the bumblebee who doesn't know it's impossible for bumblebees to fly so does it anyway. I didn't know how bad FSX was so I just enjoyed it. Yeah, I had to run it at severely reduced settings on my not-quite-state-of-the-art computer. I remember the first time someone posted a screen shot of a DC-3 over a city with full autogen and being amazed. It was years before I could do that myself. But I enjoyed flying in FSX, as long as I limited my time on the forums. Watching videos and looking at screen shots doesn't let you experience the true magic that MSFS is capable of. If you read the complaints without ever experiencing MSFS yourself you might get the impression that MSFS is bad. Go flying, and don't judge the entire experience by a single location. Or by a single flight. The magic is definitely there. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

August 30, 20205 yr Dave2013, Firstly, I have to say that it was good and also humble of you to apologise. Many would not. Personally, I agree with most of your respondents in that many (a majority) people are in fact, enjoying the sim. It most certainly has some shortcomings and the statement that the majority of people have had no problems, is. I believe somewhat of a departure from reality. The people who are actually enjoying this sim on a daily basis, myself included, are doing so mainly because, instead of whinging, they put their heads down and sorted things out. Those same people, I have found, are more than willing to help others achieve satisfaction with this sim and really, only require a request for help. They have certainly helped me and for that, I am incredibly grateful. I cannot help feeling that a detailed manual could have prevented a huge amount of complaints, admitting at the same time, that no "real" men read manuals LOL I also feel that, whilst the graphics/scenery are outstanding, the default aircraft leave a little to be desired, and I figure that the 3PDs will sort that out in short order. The same applies to utilities. It is all going to happen. Going through the traumas of sorting this out now instead of later is, to my mind, a good bet and when the 3PD aircraft come, I for one, am gonna be ready for them. Lastly, I do not think that anyone, can justifiably tell themselves (and others) that they have wasted their money on this release. So, hook in mate, invest your money and time ... spare the community your frustrations, and share your wins. Good luck Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. August 30, 20205 yr Well I've just flip flopped. Having refunded a couple of days ago I gave in and have re-purchased it. I would rather have what it does offer and be able to offer constructive feedback, than be on the outside looking in. Not only that the £60 would have been burning a hole in my Steam wallet, I'd have ended up spending it on other games I probably wouldn't have enjoyed. Then in 2 or 3 months time explain to my missus why I wanted another £60 to buy FS again! Luckily I didn't delete the core game files so looks like reinstall is a doddle. If we don't complain and demand better products and services, then nothing will ever improve. Yes, if you have bought the product and can provide "legitimate complaint or critique" based on your experience. You haven't so you can't. Full respect for you creating this thread in response though, as well as having spent a great deal of time in the past to help and create for others.

I was venting my frustration a bit in regards to all the problems I'm reading about daily with the new sim. Although I predicted that there would be bugs and unresolved issues, hence my calling it a Beta version, I honestly didn't think it would be this bad. I've also counseled patience and expressed my optimistic view that the issues will get resolved in due time. However, the sheer number and nature of problems reported here compelled me to take a more negative stance. I know that there are some here who love the new sim, but it looks to me like the number of negative posts far outweigh the positive ones. There's no doubt that the scenery is beautiful, which many of the positive posts focus on, but there's a lot more to a true flight simulator than scenery. Anyway, I haven't bought it yet, so what do I know, right? I"m planning to get it in December, by which time I really hope that most of the glaring issues will have been resolved. I should be more optimistic and just be glad that we even have a new simulator. Things will get better over time. Dave You didn't buy MSFS yet, but you are frustrated already??? You should play MSFS by myself, instead reading forums. You have to understand, that many people had too high and unreal expectations and now are frustrated. But much more people are satisfied and could enjoy MSFS even though there are some known issues. But it doesn't prevent you to explore whole from the sky. Try it and you will see 😉

All those YT promoters never criticizing the failures is unacceptable. I paid triple what XP is worth on sale and I can even have a VOR show up on a 530 with no IFR map. Again I like the sim but it has major failures for a released product. Ryzen 5 5600X - Noctua U12A, 32Gb Vengence, Sapphire Pulse 5700xt, WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD
August 30, 20205 yr Author I couldn't wait and just had to see for myself, so I just installed MSFS. Subscribed to Game Pass and got the first 30 days for $1. Have spent the past few hours checking out some areas I'm familiar with. Setting up the controls and cameras is a chore. Nice scenery. 3D buildings need work, though. Your position is probably just about right on. I find that the biggest negative about this new product has nothing to do with what the sim will do or will not do. The real negative is that for the past year this Forum and many more have lost control to the word not allowed + I suspect a number of MS plants or trolls and the Cancel Culture freaks that it has attracted. I get it that a new sim is exciting and if they get it out of it's current stage then it will be great for everyone! I just hope that not only the Avsim Mod's but other also will soon wave the BS flag and get things back under control a bit. MS has all sorts of chats and forums where the folks can go to ooooh and ahhha, giggle, dance around every Thursday and wet their pants.
