August 31, 20205 yr Let's point out something that got under the radar a little with all the complaints. I am surprised how stable this sim runs (0 CTDs with me) and how stable the servers performed at launch day. But that's probably due to the stress test aka Alpha. 😄 Edited August 31, 20205 yr by tweekz Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

As the OP, rest assured, this was in no way "started" as a discussion as to whether it should have been released (or NOT). It seems that in almost every other thread, someone is making the comment that the game was released too early. It was sort of my response to all of those nay sayers that seem to be saying that it would have BETTER to deprive the non alpha or beta testers of the chance to experience this simulator. My point is that everything in this world is flawed, and we pay our money and take our chances. And I am very glad that the game was released. No argument necessary. If one didn't want to buy a "buggy" game, you one have waited, read the reviews, and then made a decision. That's all this thread is.
August 31, 20205 yr Did you know that some bugs may never be discovered because the code is never run?😧 Regards bs Edited August 31, 20205 yr by bean_sprout AMD RYZEN 9 5900X 12 CORE CPU - ZOTAC RTX 3060Ti GPU - NZXT H510i ELITE CASE - EVO M.2 970 500GB DRIVE - 32GB XTREEM 4000 MEM - XPG GOLD 80+ 650 WATT PS - NZXT 280 HYBRID COOLER
August 31, 20205 yr So by your logic, it is ok with you if software products are released to the paying public in a somewhat unfinished state, because nothing is perfect? While I was an alpha/beta tester, and I believe that it wasn't ready for prime time, what you are suggesting can lead to a very slippery slope, as everyone's definition of suitability can differ... Let me asked you personally... What level of disfunction in MSFS would have changed your opinion on whether or not MSFS was suitable for release? 😀 Edited August 31, 20205 yr by flybius spelling
August 31, 20205 yr I really, reallyreally hope we get the inside scoop someday on why this was released when it was. I've been involved in the game dev industry for over a decade and following the developer updates and patch notes my expectation was holiday 2020 release. I totally agree that I'm happy to fly now with what works and stick to my C152 VFR flight which is by itself more than enough to keep me happy for a good while. Buuuut at the same time I also think Asobo/MS could have saved themselves a lot of headache baking this a bit longer in the oven. Or, at the very least admitted the full state of the product upon release. I feel that many of the hurt simmers were not closely following the dev updates (which were all great, btw) and thus were not ready for the state the game was released in. Anyways, it's all pretty moot. Game is out, now to just see how well Asobo/MS deal with the "product as service" approach in the coming years Edited August 31, 20205 yr by Gaiiden Drew Sikora Staff Blog Founder/Designer, MSE Airports

But when we have six different "this game sucks" / "no it doesn't" threads on the front page it pushes other interesting ones off. 😄 15 minutes ago, LarryD said: As the OP, rest assured, this was in no way "started" as a discussion as to whether it should have been released (or NOT). Oh yeah, I understood your intent, no worries. It just gave me the springboard to broach the topic of "do we really need this" in general. 🙂
August 31, 20205 yr I'm happy they released the simulator early so I could finally try it out even with all the issues, and especially because it looks like they are accelerating the bug-fixing and polish as the feedback is flowing in. But I really wish they would've tackled the awful download client before to save me and many others the exhausting process of trying to get it to work. I feel that this is the one thing that held it back from being, even if work-in-progress, a product ready for release considering its very decent stability once it's properly installed.

August 31, 20205 yr I was one of the Alpha/Beta testers and thought the sim was released slightly too early (I thought it would release at the end of October), mostly because I feared that it would get off to a bad start with poor reviews from people who expected the perfect sim straight away, luckily the reviews were generally good and the people who are bashing it generally are the stanch other sim supporters who protect "their" sim above anything else. All newly released apps/sims/games have their bugs and need various patches after launch, MSFS is no different. August 31, 20205 yr As the world is, humanity will not last long. it's good that flight simulator has already appeared. leave the drama.
August 31, 20205 yr I will suggest that there is a bit of a disparity between the alpha/beta folks and the newly minted paying customers because the alpha/beta folks have experienced the excitement of what is offered in MSFS for a longer period of time. Bottom line is we cannot get to the great improvements of MSFS to come, until it is released...
