September 1, 20205 yr What then point of this thread is I don't know, it's released, end of story. How long has it been in creation already? It's an incredibly complex piece of software, and it wouldn't be bug free if it was delayed another 5-years.
September 1, 20205 yr I guess what seems to me to be fundamentally dishonest is not the present state of the sim but the yearlong weekly hype these companies have produced. It's just far less than what has been promised and represented to us over and over again this past year. I wonder what the sim would look like if they had invested half the resources that they spent on advertising on actually finishing their work. And now we learn that without a finished SDK it will be yet another year before we have any addon planes. What a shameless display of contempt for the community.
September 1, 20205 yr Just remember what SirDan will say. 14 days now going on 15. Looking forward to next year he will say it's only been 367 days since release give them time. Sean Green

Mate, I have not seen this before and I wonder if you could provide a link. Apart from that, may I respectfully point out that there are three freeware aircraft out there already, admittedly two of them are ported over (FA18 and P51 racer) which have not been terribly successful ..WIPs There is also a DR400 which I believe is quite OK but I have not tried it. And there is also a Carenado 172, which again I have not tried. Are you perhaps alluding to the major players (PMDG FSLABS etc) not releasing for another year. I personally believe, ALL the relevant developers are heads down and tails up trying to get their product into MSFS as soon as possible. I am hoping that you are quantifiably wrong and I say this without criticism. Even if it is right, we still have P3D and XPlane if we want to fly the "good" stuff and I do this everyday after a flight with MSFS I have to admit actually dreaming that P3D will start a live streaming (Google earth please) and then it may well be very much competitive with MSFS ... Tony, See the post from the commercial Aerosoft guy on the thread entitled "No Developer Planes Yet" pg.1 I sincerely hope you're right but without a finished SDK I can't imagine the developers having much success.

I am quite sure SirDan will be man enough to admit his daily "its only been" history is actually wrong if it proves to be that long. I would imagine though, if we wait 12 months for addons, that there wont be many take ups on those, because we will have abandoned MSFS long before that. It won't happen mate so don't get your hopes up. Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). September 1, 20205 yr Maybe it was released too early and maybe not. The lure of the captive audience caused by the pandemic was probably enough incentive for MS to release MSFS when it did. At least now the app is out there well ahead of the winter holiday buying season. It's somewhat pointless to worry about the release date at this juncture. 90% of the users don't seem fazed at all by the bugs, probably because they are flying small GA aircraft and sightseeing. As the existing user base gets bored with that mode, the bugs will be fixed and better aircraft will be released. The Xbox version will be out and VR will be implemented. Spit on me if all that doesn't happen.

September 1, 20205 yr I am glad they released it when they did, I am enjoying the wonderful scenery and Turing the world. Every thing will, in time work out. Be patience . MSFS2020 MICHAEL J proud supporter KJAX FLORIDA
September 1, 20205 yr My impression is that it was a bit rushed, but now it‘s here and most(?) people seem to enjoy it, myself included. There‘s quite a lot of things to try out and discover. This should keep me busy until the more advanced stuff comes out. For instance, I took up flying the A320 again after a 2 years break and since I have to relearn quite a bit I‘m even glad that it‘s not „study level“ at the moment, but that‘s just me. And when I get bored with that I‘ll try the next aircraft or tinker around with the SDK or whatever. There’s loads of stuff to do. September 1, 20205 yr I bet had they waited with the release for say 3 months there still would have been lots of issues. The things they already knew from the alpha / beta period could have been (partly) solved but with a mass release like now new, other, things happen, like we see unfortunately with the many people that suffer from download and install issues, and stuttering. I delayed the introduction myself. I'm going to put together new hardware, which waits for the intro of new nVidia and AMD chips. It'll probably not be before December ... by then I hope MSF will be far more fluent with installation and I hope I miss out on many of the 'child diseases' like stuttering that are currently very frustrating to many. September 1, 20205 yr MSFS has released now MS can turn it`s attention to more important things, the money maker Game Pass and getting more members, and the XBOX release in November. Raymond Fry.
