September 30, 20205 yr I flew hours over Japan and I definitely noticed two things: ground texture/image seems to be downgraded by at least a notch. The worst thing is trees - they're only drawn in a very short distance and popping up almost right in front your eyes. That's really annoying. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11

My terrain and object level of detail settings are both 150. I have not touched LOD, now that I know where that variable is located. This morning i completed a 2.4 hour flight from Oakland to Burbank, touring the Pacific coast along the way. Some segments over land, other segments over the water just off the coast. From Santa Barbara I flew across Oxnard, then Thousand Oaks, and landed at Burbank. All of this in the default 172 (G1000). Nowhere along the way did I see any scenery popping. I had detail as far as I could see. It was just slightly hazy, but not so much as to cut visibility down below likely 20 miles. Don't think I will mess with the LOS setting. Just not seeing it. What Nvidia driver are you using? I reverted back to 452.06 a couple weeks ago because the 456.38 was giving me big FPS loss on various games and I'm not seeing this LOD issue. Maybe it is related to the new 456.xx drivers? September 30, 20205 yr Author They just announced they are looking at expanding the LOD because it is not expensive to perform on one core.... Brilliant!
September 30, 20205 yr Asobo CEO just said that LOD and AA changes were not expected, could be new bugs somewhere. That's a good news, at least they're not dumbing down the sim. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11

When you have as many issues as you do, it might be your system and not the sim, just saying.
September 30, 20205 yr Yes, kudos to Asobo that they're acknowledging the problem! It's still a shame that they're apparently sticking to a rigid bimonthly patch release schedule. This LOD issue is mainly cosmetic, but the CTD when enabling the VFR map should be a hotfix when they track down the bug. The developers have literally just advised RE the LOD in the live stream.... They are in fact increasing it, so, that theory is well and truly out the window.

That's why we should all chill out on speculation. Especially when that speculation asserts some sort of dark designs by the developer to intentionally cripple the product. Bandwidth limits is a reasonable explanation, but one that I admitted that I had no proof for. I'm glad that I'm wrong. Edited September 30, 20205 yr by wthomas33065
