My sim looks great, but I get stutters (low FPS). 2. My sim ist fast as lightning, but it looks bad. They are tuning the middle ground here, with a focus on great performance. And they succeed, in this department, MSFS already beats the tar out of any other sim out there. Once they are satisfied, they will offer, or we will find, ways to add in more detail. Your claim that the X Box theory is BS ignores commercial reality. MS is not a charity for flight simmers. They are going where they make most money. Your other 2 points don't fit with the 'incredible' claims made by hundreds of new posters flooding this forum when the sim was launched. They were supposedly getting 60 to 100 fps and perfect scenery on basic laptops. Anyone questioning those claims was shot down immediately. So why would Asobo need to tune to the middle ground. Initially MSFS beat other sims with it's remarkable scenery and very pretty graphics on the default aircraft. It cannot do many things that other sims manage to do, although I hope it will eventually become a fully functioning 'Flight' simulator. But that is not the case at the moment. The priorities seem to be with scenery more than flight, and are not necessarily improvements.. John B

The XBOX version will be optimised for XBOX, that has nothing to do with the PC version. That they "downgrade" the PC version beforehand, to make the XBOX version look better (in like, 6 months) is just a far fetched, somewhat ridiculous idea. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

And it is as clear as daylight when you are flying. Just when things were looking up! I remember when a lot of people reported that eating pop rocks and drinking soda will make your stomach explode, or that putting batteries in the freezer helped make them last longer Point is, the fact that collective belief doesn't make something true. Here's a much more likely scenario. We've become "jaded". The new car smell is wearing off and we are noticing imperfections that we didn't notice before because we wer overwhelmed by what we initially were experiencing. You buy a new car and it's perfect. Then as you own it, you notice little imperfections you hadn't before. The car didn't magically get worse, you got more critical. We're now getting more "used" to what MSFS is offering, so now we notice pop in when we didn't before. We notice the melting buildings or vegetation flaws that we didn't notice early on. The longer we own the sim, the more we will notice it's imperfections. That is basic human behavior. And it explains a lot more than some half cocked idea that a developer would cripple a version of software written for $1500 plus PC's to sell a $500 Gaming system. To think otherwise is to believe that the flight simulator market is not the incredibly narrow niche market that in reality, it is. News Flash...Microsoft is not counting on Flight Sim to push Series X sales. Games like Halo Infinite Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which will move more than 10x the volume of Flight Simulator is what will move Series X sales. Edited September 30, 20205 yr by wthomas33065
September 30, 20205 yr Since we all seem to have an overabundance of tinfoil...maybe they didn't reduce the LOD radius. Maybe they just made the trees that everyone complained were too big and too pervasive at launch smaller with less coverage. (gee thanks @MatthewS 😉😂) I'm with @Colonel X, I'm not seeing a drastic reduction in LOD and I'm not seeing any mass pop in. Occasionally I'll see some terrain morphing into greater detail. I do see the trees in particular appear to fade in starting at some distance out (maybe 15-20 miles?) and become gradually thicker starting at maybe 10 miles out. I'm willing to concede that this may not be as noticeable at 1080p. I'm not saying that people aren't having issues, but I don't think that a simple "They nerfed LOD...'cause Xbox" is a viable explanation. Chris

One statement by a company official, something that doesn't come wrapped in Tinfoil. I never said any of that to begin with. And your analogy’s are rubbish, to be blunt. PS if you’d bothered to look, you will see plenty of screenshot examples over at the official forums.

I think all they did was change the effect of the LOD slider. So people will get less distance at same settings. Or your perceptions are changing because you are noticing imperfections you overlooked before. Classic "new car" syndrome. The longer we use the product, the more we note it's imperfections. Imperfections that were always there, yet we missed because we were in awe with what we were first noticing. Perfect example I was (still am) in awe of the clouds, But now I notice that the sim re-uses several cloud formations. In real life, cloud formations are unique. Even two anvil shaped thunderheads are unique. In flight sim I've notice quite a few cloud formations that seem "re-used". Didn't notice that before. But I'm not going to say they "nerfed" clouds so they could optimize for Xbox.

I would personally like to see all the flight systems tweaked and working perfectly before all this messing with the scenery. I am an old guy who first started simming on the Commodore 64, just think a flight sim programmed to work with 64k memory! So I am over the moon with what we have today. Same here, but since aircrafts are screwed at least we expect that they don't ruin the scenery which worked fine. Riccardo Viecca

I have checked my graphics settings and they are the same as they were before the patch. I think, just putting to one side (not dismissing) the Xbox theory I'd offer that it's a server issue and they're throttling. If that is the case then hopefully they'll increase resources and we'll get back to where we were. Edited September 30, 20205 yr by Will Fly For Cheese
