September 30, 20205 yr I understand server bandwidth restriction could very well degrade ground imagery, but it shouldn't reduce the drawing distance of trees. Flying over Japan last night those popping trees are glaringly noticeable. Hopefully they can and will fix it soon. Speaking of trees, anyone else noticed that in some area there are actually no trees? In northeastern US for instance KLEB (Lebanon, NH) around there are simple no trees at all. Same to part of the Switzerland I flew couple days ago. This was before yesterday's patch. Edited September 30, 20205 yr by FlyIce 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11

That's why we should all chill out on speculation. Especially when that speculation asserts some sort of dark designs by the developer to intentionally cripple the product. No one in this topic has actually said what you keep claiming posts have said about X Box. Posters had made logical comments which you have either not read properly, or chosen to misquote so you can call them conspiracy theories. John B

They are slowly modding us into the upcoming XBOX version! 7 hours ago, Biggles2010 said: Perhaps you are unusually lucky, because for you, the sim seems to have been perfect from day one. That does not appear to have been the case for many experienced users. There are so many reports of LOD reduction and scenery popping that it cannot just be dismissed. Each patch has made it worse, and even some of the diehard enthusiasts have now started to recognise that it happens. The theory that it's connected with increasing fps for VR use, and for the X Box market is very plausible. That was always the target market. 9 minutes ago, Biggles2010 said: No one in this topic has actually said what you keep claiming posts have said about X Box. I especially like the third one where you said "the theory that it's connected with increasing FPS for VR use and for the X Box Market is very plausible". Your words. Not mine. At least I admitted I was wrong, instead of trying to gaslight my own previous statements. Edited September 30, 20205 yr by wthomas33065

And nowhere is there any suggestion of a conspiracy. It would be nonsense to think that Asobo will be working on MSFS for the pc in isolation, without consideration of the requirements for the potentially larger X Box market. They will have it very much in mind, because MS will be watching the bottom line. That is likely to influence various decisions affecting the pc version. This is not a conspiracy theory, just financial reality. John B
September 30, 20205 yr Sebastian Wloch just talked about this as a last point in the Q&A It is a bug. They did not deliberately change any drawing distance. They are actually working on increasing it further on upper levels, because it will come with an absolutely negligible performance and bandwith impact. Edited September 30, 20205 yr by Farlis

I don't think it's really an overall LOD issue as much as the loading of trees from what I am seeing. The AI buildings appear ok as well..... September 30, 20205 yr Thanks! I missed that thread. Guess MSFS simply missed those areas for trees. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11
October 1, 20205 yr Just to test I upped the LOD to 200 at Los Angeles, and the draw distance is absolutely phenomenal. It's a non issue. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20
October 1, 20205 yr Gotta say, I'm not seeing any issue with the trees either at LOD 200, at least nothing that hasn't been there since the beginning. In fact, the other day I was impressed by how smoothly they faded in, in the distance, to where the transition from underlying sat imagery to 3D forest was almost imperceptible. That's not to say others aren't having problems, maybe it's dependent on location.

Altitude seems to also play a factor, with there being a sweet bitter spot where the tree pop-in is very obvious, and least with some scenery.
