October 14, 20205 yr Until this bug is officially fixed, I find this to be an acceptable solution. I might even use it as my primary method, since it appears to provide me with more realistic conditions than default live weather did. https://unrealweather.blogspot.com/ Edited October 14, 20205 yr by wthomas33065
October 14, 20205 yr For myself, since I spent so many years dealing with rain out of clear sky in fsx/p3d, I consider it a minor issue at best. It’ll get fixed.

October 14, 20205 yr I tried to find lightning in the FX folder, but no joy. I did find contrails, which is interesting... I haven't given up trying to turn off lightning just yet.

October 14, 20205 yr Last night it was like The Count (tm) from Sesame Street -- (Thunder crashes) AH_A_AAA! AH A AAA! ONE! (Crash! Boom!) TWO! (ccrash!! flash!) THRRREE! (BOOM!) AH A AAA! But in some seriousness, it would be nice if they fixed the "lightning (almost) everywhere" thing. It's probably reading all CB's as CV or something like that, or overdoing a "Lightning in Vicinity" report to cover a large area. This has to be the most obnoxious bug I've encountered besides CTD's. Not only is the lightning out of place, but the intensity and number of strikes is so in your face that I've been avoiding flying anywhere with cloud cover.

Did you choose the Live Weather (METAR) setting when setting up your flight? That's the profile you use. I haven't had any inappropriate lightning using this method . If you try to just use "live weather" again, it will not work. Live Weather (Metar) is a preset, just like Clear Skies, Few Clouds, Scattered Clouds etc. It is a "static" weather profile. Where it becomes dynamic is that every 3 minutes by default, it loads in METAR data and reapplies the preset using the new data. Edited October 21, 20205 yr by wthomas33065
