what's a lazy simmer to do now?

Featured Replies

Please don't hate me but I don't fly planes in the sim. I am a spotter and I love to watch planes from gate to gate. With P3D we had super traffic board that accomplished this, but in msfs we don't have that. When the sim first came out I was able to do this with a propeller aircraft. After the second update that function didn't work and after the last patch it's the same problem. I don't know if there is a setting I need to do so I can have this function work. maybe the patches have changed something in the options. So what settings do you use if you want the total ai control. The ai "controlled" plane will take off but then fly in a straight line for miles and miles. I am a little confused between ai autopilot and "regular" autopilot. This is what I use the sim the most for so now what does the game offer now for a lazy simmer like me? Thanks

Even if you set a flight plan and a destination from the world map?

Anyway if you just like to watch why don't you go to twitch.com and watch other players...?

Maybe, as a spotter & not a flyer, why not watch airport webcams?  That's more realistic for a lazy simmer?

MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320,  Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28

just wait until proper 3rd party traffic ai system is there.

This is probably a first!

A guy that purchased MSFS, NOT to fly, but to watch virtual planes, instead of watching real planes via webcams.

And others suggesting 3rd party AI systems..

Only on Avsim..

How on earth can we hate anyone that spots & does not fly!

The diverse tapestry of the flightsim world.

Kinda like GTA, where you could just sit around watching the killing, shooting, assaulting going on around you - or you could just switch on the news.

Or buy a PC to watch screensavers..

Its a pretty cool idea actually, but MSFS wasnt design for that. So yea, its probably gonna be a lot of DIY 🙂

Good luck friend.

It's not unusual though.  There is quite a following of AI spotting guys, and if that's what brings pleasure, why not.

We had this in FS2004, with 'The Dude'.. a guy sitting on a chair, with a cooler next to him, watching AI.. We also had a 3 level control tower add-on, where you could select different hight levels & placements to watch from.

I doubt if any bought FS2004 to watch AI though..

I have been using PSXSeecontraffic with Prepar3D, and according to the forum there are indeed a number of spotters (albeit most not exclusively spotting).

Kind regards, Michael

Avsim - it's like living in a huge city

no matter how kinky you think you are, there's always someone kinkier 😜

I like to sim "normally" but I also like to have a flight from the passenger seat in the background while I work from home.

Try setting up a proper flight plan in the menu.  Although i've witnessed a lot of crashes!
