October 14, 20205 yr @bosflo Have you tried the Drone Camera? That way you can move the camera around regardless of where your own aircraft is, so you don't have to leave your parking spot. When the first AI traffic packages came out for FS9 (or even FS2002, can't remember) I used to spend countless hours at EBOS and EBBR watching the traffic from my chair while a friend of mine was out there in the real world doing the same, but in the rain 🙂 Undercarriage lever a bit sticky was it, Sir?
October 14, 20205 yr I enjoy watching players fly around busy airports. I go plane spotting in real life (my version of "bird watching"), where I park near the end of a runway and enjoy planes landing over my head, and I also do this in the game as well, sometimes from the same spot! I also enjoy it when a "real" plane lands in this new sim. I can look up the flight using real tools and see who actually landed at the airport IRL.
October 14, 20205 yr I used to use SuperTrafficBoard back in FSX (non-steam version). Not only could you watch all the arrivals/departures, you could put yourself in the tower back then of which most were modeled. Further, you could also jump from ai plane to ai plane just watching. Some of this was from the SDK enabled controls and some from STB. It wasn't the only thing I did, but I understand the draw to it seeing the arrivals, departures, gates, etc. lining up with Super Traffic Board. I don't think MSFS is ready for something like it at present. A lot of the parked traffic is not part of the live traffic, I don't think the gates are assigned by airline, etc., etc. James

October 14, 20205 yr How can anyone hate someone who likes watching planes? I have multiple spotter friends IRL, and they're the most wholesome bunch of people. Sometimes I used to load up a default Cessna or similar at VATSIM events in FSX/P3D just to watch the traffic and listen to the frequencies. It's actually a lot of fun if you don't feel like flying that day. With time we will get the same or even better in FS2020 as well. Airliners, events, better AI.. everything. October 14, 20205 yr Not to mock the OP but this is some high level geektastic stuff going on here 😀 Thomas Derbyshire
October 14, 20205 yr No hate at all, just a sense of weirdness that someone buys a game, to watch it, instead of playing it. Only on Avsim!. Like watching a farm sim, or a train sim, or a fish screensaver.. 'shrug' Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

I don't know how they're integrating RL flights into the sim, but it's not working in a realistic way. I haven't followed any planes (I'll have to give that a shot) but I have noticed rampant airplane pop-in and out. I'll turn final and all of a sudden an airplane blinks into existence in front of me. Or I'll be watching a plane to make sure we don't hit and it'll suddenly freeze and hover in place, then sometimes disappear. I'm sure some if not all of that is player aircraft, but it illustrates how the sim is not doing a good job of maintaining consistency or order when it shows other planes in the sim. Reddit has a particular animosity toward Avsim. On the rare occasion I look at something on Reddit, I usually see complaints about Avsim mods and their "censorship," but then Reddit's userbase is known for getting mad when someone "censors" racism and underage porn so I don't know that I'm overly interested in that community's opinions on that subject. And don't get anyone started about what "real flying" in a sim is...😆 Edit - to the OP, there are apparently a number of AI packages in the works, but haven't heard on anything being released before year-end (though I'd be happy to be wrong).
