October 14, 20205 yr So how come this "horrified" guy supposedly fearing for his life, was okay prioritising capturing a video on his phone. Strange human beings are. I would have stopped trying to get a video for YouTube and picked up one of the many rocks on the ground. Aparently there have only been 125 fatal cougar attacks in the US in 100 years. Is this a case of people being more alarmed than they need to be? I have no idea, and feel a bit cheeky even suggesting it, as the most dangerous animal in my neck of the woods is an adder that might give you a bit of a bee sting. Someone send this to the guy in video... "If you do happen to encounter a cougar, DO NOT RUN. Running and rapid movements can trigger the animal's instinctual prey response and it will easily chase you down. Instead, face the mountain lion and back away slowly." in regard to the second example of a Cougar, face the "Cougar" and approach confidently, but make sure you have applied anti-persirant first. The fact that it ran when he threw the first rock tells you he was more frightened of the man. Also big cats are ambush predators, they usually don't just walk casually up to you and bite.
