Freeware has ended 😔

now we have to pay

simMarket: BIJAN HABASHI - FALL SEASON MSFS

So seems, his contribution was more a public beta test it seems.

I do not have problems that he monetises his work, but provide if for month as freeware and develop it with the help of the community and then - with no word - cancel it ll and sell it .... ok, wouldn't have been my move.

Would have let fall season be freeware and make all others then payware.

I am not sure why you say you would need to pay since you already have it.  I never said you would have to pay for what you have already downloaded. So why the bashing? Over 5000 of people have downloaded it for free and yet you go a leave a 1 star review for the mod.

It wasn't my intention to have it as paid but when I see people stealing my files and sell it on other sites, I had no choice.

I have send nearly 100 hours on this seasons and provided help to this community to make the sim better.   This respond goes to few others who think everyone should work many hours a day for free. Do you work for free? how do you feed your family?

Rant over....

Doesn't make sense! Why shouldn't people steal it if you make it as payware?

I said that I do not have problems if you make money with your seasons, so your rant if I'd like to work for free doesn't also make sense.

But I sill think it is not very nice to the community ot develop it with help of the forum here and make it then payware without any notice before!

No need to rant (tells me that I have hit the nail). It is just my opinion.

EDIT: where have I left a one star review???

If you didn't have any problems with it, you wouldn't leave a 1 star review and say it's very bad move.

It's not nice to provide a free mod for all of you to use?  Ok, I get it now.

What do you want a notice for? You already have the mod, along with others here. I am not asking anyone for money here. That's what you don't get.

@BijanStudio I love your work and I would love as well to support you on your payware. However, I have bit of comment about the pricing, I find ~12Euro a bit much for one season and I am afraid you may lose good opportunity to attract more users to buy your awesome add-one and may underestimate your add-one, less price and more users golden opportunity. However, if you'd include all the seasons in one package and with a nice configurator to select the appropriate season, you'd really easily sell it with over 30euros! Because you included more features and it would appeal more to the end users.

Anyway keep up with the good work!

Thank you. I will definitely consider this.

Well shoot....snooze ya loose.   I missed your beta Bijan. I saw the screenies...looked  very good.

I'm not in a position right now to buy your seasons, I wish you the best. You worked very hard on them, kudos.

I'll either wait for Asobo to finally create seasons, or wait for a sale.  Or perhaps if you create a pkg. deal...I might go for that.

Mainly just wanted to say Thank You for your hard work. Good Luck

My guess is the market wouldn't well support a $30+ addon for seasons, combined or not (but only a guess). Finding or guessing the optimal price point curve is never easy in this stuff, but judging by other addons in this general realm for FS 2020, it would more likely be between $8 and $15. The price point being the number at which you make the most profit. In retail sales for instance, price points are tied to cost, but in pure software there is very little to almost no overhead in the cost of selling a product, so without the overhead cost, price points tend to trend on the lower /cheaper side of the curve for auxiliary graphical features.

I do not know which number that would be, but usually the best strategy is to vary the price a little over time (sales, etc...), and see how the demand curve relates to the price point. IMO, you can sell the product for whatever price you want to try, and run your venture however you wish 🙂

While I understand the reaons behind this move and appracite the initial "trial period" 30 Euro for this kind of addon is too steep IMO. There should be a significant discount when purchasing all seasons and in fact they should come as standard in one single package.

Also it would have been decent to ask/let the community know upfront who contributed to the development and testing that is going to be moved to payware.

Personally having tested the product I would pay between 5-10 Euros max.

Best of luck.

For people who are interested in this kind of thing, I think it may be well worthwhile keeping an eye on this thread...

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/seasonal-tree-colors/320827

It looks like the developers will only be posting on there for now, unless maybe they decide to post here at a later date, but the one thread above is the development thread for people to keep an eye on.
You will know their names.  There is plenty of experience there.  Guys that know what they are doing.

As you will see from their pictures, it already looks stunning.

If it had textures in it, it would be more justified to have it payware. Asobo never ment this system to color the trees with, its a shader system to distinguish area's of trees in slight color differences. When looking the Asobo trees up-close theres definitely textures involved. Up close with this mod the whole trees are just a tint of brown, from a distance it looks nice though.

The thing is, such add-one will be implemented by Asobo this year, the same goes for the replay add-ones (unless there are extra features that justify the add-one). I am fine to buy it if Asobo say, no we are not going to implement seasons at all. But since Asobo has said many times that they will implement seasons, hence this add-one will become obsolete once Asobo roll out the actual seasons. Especially at 30euro price point.

The way Asobo are going, I think it could be quite some time before they implement proper seasons.

They have done the snow and ice recently, and I think they will leave it there for now, as they have other pressures on them such as fixing the bugs, adding content they have already said will come soon, and working hard towards getting the DX12 switch-over as trouble free as they can.
