In fact, these terms are not fairly new, this policy has been in place since quite a few months. As you can see, it has had no impact on Flightsim.to. The fuss is now, I suspect, only because of the introduction of the premium membership. However, I will make efforts to make the terms clearer and better worded.” Yes, they sneaked them in earlier, which does not make it better, and then once in they change their business model.

Well, it is a rather fundamental change of their business model and the story they have told so far, without giving developers the chance of backing out. We were already concerned before. When I asked them for explanations about their Terms and the new model they gave a nice story on the new Program, but remained silent on the Terms... When I then asked for deletion as they have unilaterally changed their business model they denied this option. I have nothing against Premium models, but their big mistake was not to give the content providers they live from the chance of backing out when they changed their business model. Depending on which of the total figures they communicate on their site - on the same page they write 25 million and 33 millon and somewhere else they write 47 million - Global AI Ship Traffic has generated from 0.3 to 0.9 % of their total downloads. It is not insignificant considering their new business model. This is what they write about themselves: "Who Runs It? No company. No investor. Flightsim.to is run by a handful of enthusiasts of the flight simulation community - just like you!" If they are truely enthusiasts they would be more open about themselves and more respectful towards the content creators which creates their business. Global AI Ship Traffic will not get back on Flightsim.to - if that means less downloads so be it...

February 19, 20233 yr @KL791 I just saw here that FBW would be happy to integrate Software of other Developers into their FBW Installer. I am not sure how you licensed GAIST, but if it fits, would be a convenient way for many users to get the latest and greatest of GAIST. I just updated my GAIST Installation from one of the other 2 sites you mentioned and I happily will do in the future. I just wanted to give you a note of what could be possible additionally, if there is interest 🙂 Thanks for letting us use GAIST for free, it is an awesome package and I can see that you and all the contributors are putting a lot of love into it. I appreciate that very much!

Meanwhile Kai just shared the new User Interface of GAIST Real Time... So looking forward to this. So if I've got it right I can expect to see ships matching the ones I see out of my window in the bay? And ferries crossing the channel from Plymouth, Pool, Portsmouth, Newhaven and Dover etc in real time? Just so amazing for free. Have you got a model of the super fast ferry to Cherbourg from Portsmouth? With it belching clouds of black smoke as they try and start the engine!😀

I would not say 100%, but close to 80% 😉 There are still some types/sizes of ships/boats we do not have a model for or that do not send out any AIS signal at all. But for the bigger ships you should see a SImObject within the Sim 🙂
February 20, 20233 yr Does the time of day setting in your flight factor into GAIST ultra and the new Real time versions, or do they run on a real world UTC time clock and the time setting on your sim flight doesn't alter the ship traffic? For an example, if I am in Canada and it is 0900 real time, but in the sim I am flying in a country that is six or more hours ahead in real time. If Iset the flight time in the sim to 0900 so I can fly in daylight, will I get the traffic from the real world time of the country I am flying in? Thanks, Bill
