November 28, 20205 yr Ginger Rogers was a beautiful actress. But you know, she wasn't much of a dancer. She had to work hard to learn to do everything Fred Astaire did, only "backwards and high heels." Not exactly true, but she was good enough to sell Fred-appeal. Fred was probably the best dancer ever in film, but an odd-looking bald guy. When I look at MSFS, I see early, "We're in the Money" (Gold Diggers of 1933) Ginger. Gorgeous, but not much of a dancer. P3D is Fred Astaire, the old pro who was an international star long before he went into film. He's got the technique. The trajectory of this analogy is predictable. There's a reason we still remember Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers after 80 years. Separate, they were each good, but we wouldn't remember them today if they had never been paired by RKO. MSFS needs to work hard on its footwork, until they have to mop blood off the practice floor, just like Ginger. Beauty isn't enough in this business. And P3D needs... I admire Fred, but I don't have his autographed photo gazing down upon every flight. And both are having relationship problems. Ginger is so hard to get along with she doesn't have any serious prospects soon (airliners) and Fred is a temperamental perfectionist who keeps changing the steps so his partners (airliners) are always trying to catch up. Unfortunately, we must choose between Ginger or Fred right now. Oh, we can have both, just not at the same time. Sorry, Ginger. I love you, but I'd rather have Fred with, say, Eleanor Powell, (Orbx) which isn't too bad, but doesn't have the same sex appeal. That's not going to stop me from visiting you from time to time, though. We're going to have to wait a while until we get what we want: pairing Ginger's sex appeal and Fred's technique. In the meantime, we can't blame Ginger for being Ginger or Fred for being Fred. TIm Capps, Certified Gingerologist
November 28, 20205 yr The water mask thing is incredibly frustrating because I know there are water masks that were in videos > 1 month ago and still aren't in the sim. Its hard for me to trust anything that they say in the Dev Q&A when they can't even be honest on this one point. AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals

Perhaps "Isn't this a Lovely Day to Be Caught in the Rain," from Top Hat. Can we get correct weather in P3D? Are we waiting on Hi-Fi for a retail product?

November 28, 20205 yr HELL NO! I will never respect anyone who takes my money and does not deliver a fully working product or service. Simple! MSFS

November 28, 20205 yr Author I started this post not to make any excuses for asobo as we all know they need to pay more attention and be more careful when making changes,it was mainly because of some of the toxic posts going around which to say the least are a bit immature, we are presumably all adults and should be respectful to asobo and each other, now off to get some popcorn Edited November 28, 20205 yr by Jetman67 Wayne such Asus Hero Z690, Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080, I914900K, Kraken 360 AIO CPU Cooled, 96 GIGS Corsair DDR5, 32 Inch 4K by 3
November 28, 20205 yr Here we go a again, more defence of the indefensible, more shut up and put up! So what if they take their toys away someone else will pick it up. Just because it has amazing graphics does not mean they can get away with it. God what is the world coming to when you have accept bad stuff all the time. They have messed up the sim, they have our money and time and investment. Why cant cant we have a product that works you know where the most basic things function like the Auto Pilot, where I am not waiting weeks for an add-on update that if I had of bought on Sim Market or Orbx would be updated by now! Where is the respect for us, They decided to make this, we did not ask for it, we wanted it, but we want a working a sim. All due respect to them, but so what, it does not work at present, its hardly a sim when its in the state it is right now. Get rid of the airlines, give us new GA for those who paid extra for the Premium Deluxe, or just communicate for god's sake! These dev updates, solve nothing, and just pander to "More Eye Candy" and now look, I am sorry I dont agree with being nasty, but dont throw a bucket of water over me and tell me its raining.
November 28, 20205 yr Yep. Zero sympathy from me. Asobo are a commercially run organisation. They are also dictating to the end consumer what the product is each time they patch MSFS. I paid money for a product which is constantly evolving, and not in a good way. Just read the forums and you can sense that this latest patch is particularly regressive for many consumers. I would love to know the legal position on this from a consumer rights perspective.

I wouldn’t mind a copy of their dev version. The one with the great water masking and extended LOD and nice alpha version night lights and no stuttering. The one they showcase the sim with that entices people to purchase it. PS the QA sessions are more like a sit down with politicians, they tell you what you want to hear, and inside you’re really very sceptical. Unless you’re naive....... (Like the answer to cpu optimisations for example. They bigged that up, then it was missing from patch 6. Then, it wasn’t on patch 7 notes and people were not any the wiser. Was it in or not? And the answer, to me, was just a deflection. It was as clear as mud. And the only thing I think I achieved out of it was stuttering ) I think Jorg is screaming inside, to me he seems like he is really enthusiastic yet something is holding him back.
November 29, 20205 yr Let us be clear about a few things: 1) This sim went into full release at least a few months too early 2) This almost certainly wasn't ASOBO's decision to make. A ~9 month alpha followed by a sudden two week beta made that pretty clear. 3) Game developers are dealing with pretty unprecedented challenges to their workflow and productivity, due to the global pandemic. A fact that seems to have faded from peoples' awareness over time. 4) Big patches come with an increased risk of creating unforeseen knock-on problems elsewhere. The more code you alter, the more chances for new adverse interactions in that code. This is especially true when it comes to products with the systems depth of a flight simulator. People should absolutely be critical of mistakes Asobo makes, changes that they think are poor, or the overall condition of the simulator itself. That's not the same as what it means to be "respectful" to them. You can be critical and respectful. Calling them incompetent because they accidentally busted something in the AP is not "respectful". LM and LR have been doing this for years or decades longer than Asobo, and they both routinely put out updates and patches that break things. It's a reality of game development. Asobo pretty obviously want to make this sim the best it can be, and are also pretty obviously dealing with some early growing pains of managing a product of such size and complexity. Add in that they probably aren't even working in the office together right now, and it's a challenge. I appreciate their ongoing attempts to be as transparent as possible - a level that's pretty much unprecedented, with them giving timeframes for features years away, estimates for which patches should feature which fixes and improvements, literally taking questions every month directly from players, and putting out a weekly update letting us know what is going on.
November 29, 20205 yr FS98 had a working autopilot and it didn’t send you in a spiral dive. Seriously people, stop making excuses for them. Do you guys also make excuses for your car maker when they’re forced to do a safety recall ? Ohhhh but the pandemic. Wow wow wow, how embarrassing. It looks more and more as if a rag tag dev team got handed a decent graphical engine from Forza, decent mapping/modelling and AI from Bing and Blackshark and a few coders on the dev team went and flew around couple hours of C172 and the bar has been placed at “good enough for Xbox players/casual PC gamers”
