December 13, 20205 yr https://flightsim.to/file/2774/gatwick-airport-egkk This FREEWARE GEM gets better and better- payware developers take note... fantastic for EZY Flights between here and MAN... and don't forget to explore the BRILLIANT FBW mods for Fifi! https://flybywiresim.com/a32nx You're confused, and frustrated with the shortcomings in MSFS- I hear you. This Sim is far from what it NEEDS TO BE, but then again, when I look through the streaking rain, and the atmospherics that softly blur the HIALS-II I remind myself patience is a virtue. Just the taxy out to 08R was mesmerizing with the rain softly falling, the strobes blinking and the creaks and groans of Fifi. How far the FBW Mod has come in the short time it has been in existence is stunning. Already flight path control is much better, and ECAM flows are becoming what is expected. Once the sub systems (especially MCDU separation) develop and blossom, this will start becoming a viable transport category option. If they achieve 70% of their goal- payware Airbus developers WILL BE FORCED to re-examine their business models. What the FREEWARE COMMUNITY is giving us, DEMANDS gratitude, and I for one remain obliged. In moments of understandable frustration, when even the most basic simulation concepts seem misunderstood by Asobo, it helps me when I ask myself, "What other Sim gives me this at the price of admission, without any further expenditure?" Respectfully Asobo, in this case- airframe icing, and WITH ALL YOUR AERODYNAMIC EFFECTS, more is not always better, sometimes it is just more... Finally, I am perhaps happiest about the MSFS ecosystem allowing this sort of incredible community contribution. If they understand the market (which I believe they do) they will know that THIS ABILITY is what will catalyze MSFS into FS domination. This sort of stuff will hold us over until Asobo and MS figure things out.... REALLY! Edited December 13, 20205 yr by cavaricooper Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

This sort of stuff will hold us over.... REALLY! Totally agree. Flew from there yesterday easyjet to MK's new Dublin using FBW's dedicated fbw mod. Just a superb experience all round. Starting to really enjoy this sim now...
December 13, 20205 yr The level of quality of this freeware should set the bar higher for payware developers to take note and follow! The airport is stunning and amazing. That's not for me to worry about- I'm sure there is enough concern already. What I CAN DO is support the altruistic FREEWARE developer at the moment- hence this post. Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

Well for one, I can't see the FSL selling for £150 on this platform, in the same way that trying to sell the PMDG NGX on XP at that pricing point wouldn't have worked that well when stacked against the Zibo. I just don't see the same demand for the FSL here any longer with the FBW Project having come this far and continuing to improve. In a way, that would disappoint me because we still need Tier 1 payware which would be forced to differentiate itself even further and push the boundries even further. That's good for everyone. December 13, 20205 yr Speaking of freeware....Carl and I flew this beautiful FREE bird last night in some of the most stunning DEFAULT scenery I've seen yet! Look at those BOTTs! (Big Ole Tundra Tires) 🤣 We just landed by a small house we saw along a river bed...Carl weaved his way between two big trees on final...and I was behind him...committed all the way thinking "I'm about to have a clip-wing Cub in a few moments" 😲 Take off from 8U2 and just fly around there....stunning vistas! December 13, 20205 yr Author Look- this is NOT INTENDED TO BASH PAYWARE DEVELOPERS- there is a NEED FOR and REASON FOR them, and only they know the difficulties of running a business during these tumultuous times. They need our support too! Here is a Payware EGCC from Macco Simulations that I love- great detail, CONSTANT EVOLUTION AND ATTENTION TO FEEDBACK and A GOOD PRICEPOINT. This post was meant to THANK AND HIGHLIGHT the Freeware EGKK developer and the amazing FBW Team. Also, to tell Asobo- more is not always better. THAT'S IT- no more. I have seen a patterned tendency for posts at AvSim to devolve quickly, and hope this one does not. Ta- C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
December 13, 20205 yr If I understand the situation correctly, the Gatwick freeware has been composed by a chap called Mark who normally works in or from Gatwick and has developed it whilst the airport has been closed down leaving him plenty of spare time. So whilst this project has obviously been a labour of love and a way of keeping sane, may I suggest that perhaps it is time he considered if his talents could be best used in software artistic development in the near future? If he can create this at home, goodness knows what he could produce in a commercial environment with their superior tools. December 13, 20205 yr The mod creators are an integral part of this community and I'm very grateful for their passion. Sure there are high quality payware aircraft for the other two sims, but for me (today it was confirmed) that for what I want in a sim, this one (MSFS) is delivering big time. The scenery, atmosphere, and the feeling of real flying is what I've been wanting for decades. MSFS delivers! MSFS
December 13, 20205 yr Just completed a very nice flight from EGPH to EGKK using the FBW A32NX custom fly by wire version. What an amazing airport, the attention to detail is quite amazing! Thank-you for all your hard work and time. JohnH
December 13, 20205 yr Thanks for the heads up. That inspired me to do an Easyjet flight from Dublin to Gatwick in the FBW airbus. Unfortunately I couldn‘t see much of the landscape due to bad weather but the approach was all the more spectacular. It was rather shaky with heavy crosswinds and I could only see the runway late into the final. Fortunately all went well and the tuchdown was even rather smooth. I have to admit I was a bit nervous. What a great experience. And the airport is really nice, with moving shuttles and trains and all. It might not be top-tier payware quality (yet) but it‘s certainly a great scenery. The creativity in this community is truly amazing. i9-11900K, RTX 4090, 32 GB ram, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, TCA Airbus sidestick and quadrant, Reverb G2
