January 22, 20215 yr Awesome news for the next patch! I'm also delighted that there'll finally be the contrails!!

January 22, 20215 yr @Ray Proudfoot Was it you asking about supersonic? I just read this over at FSelite by one of the developers posting on discord:-
January 22, 20215 yr After Aerosoft has gone in total introversion, I cannot help but notice the fading out of the excitement for the CRJ in the update. To be added in the near future, maybe even with the upcoming WU3 I'm afraid those values will only limit the deflection of named surfaces, not their actual authority (which would be nice). Those values do already exist in the flight model files btw. Seems like it's just made available in menu. Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

Clearly the developers have never been to Scotland if they think there is sunlight in Scotland. 🤣 Cheeky mare!😜 I'll have you know, I get a good cyclist's tan riding in Scotland, but that's only because I'm concentrating the sunlight on a limited area of my body.😊 OS: Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHzRAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB] SSD: Corsair Force MP510 (for OS); 2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)HDD: Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)

I recall in an earlier Q&A that Sebastian said the optimal CPU thread count, before you start to see greatly diminishing returns, is 8 threads. As most people would have expected. I should have presented my 32 thread comment as being somewhat tongue-in-cheek. The real question is what CPU will be best placed to deal with MSFS' workflow once its multi-threading capability is improved. I was thinking to get the Ryzen 5900X. However, it has *only* 6 cores per CCX (albeit 2 CCXs), whereas the 5800X has an 8-core CCX. Despite the 5900X's more cores, plus much higher L2 and L3 cache, some games have given better test results on QHD using the 5800X. 17 hours ago, ChaoticBeauty said: Great to see they're modelling adverse yaw and supersonic flight, as well as fixing lots of issues and adding more customisation. I'm having a good feeling about the accuracy of the simulation moving forward. Same here! It's the first time in a few months that I've felt positive about the direction of travel for the sim. January 22, 20215 yr As far as I can tell most of what they are describing in the Aerodynamics is already in the sim, with the exception of the section about 'upcoming updates' at the end of the video where they talk about better modeling of flaps, and fixing the static thrust bug with twins (this will be great to have fixed!), and then moving on to turbine engines and supersonic flight. I wouldn't worry about needing tons of cores to run a 1,300 pt flight model. The math involved is not actually that complex when compared to today's CPU speeds, and I'm sure they chose the number of recovery points such that it would work on a range of systems (including the consoles which are 8 cores). It is neat that it is fully multithreaded though. Edited January 22, 20215 yr by marsman2020 AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals
