As for the Garmin code, I do not believe there is any in the sim. They try to simulate the actions of what the Garmin GPS do, not use the real code. If they used the real code there would be no reason for the GNS430/530 mod, the G1000, 3000, etx. mods. James
January 24, 20215 yr I'm disappointed to see the Terrain Spikes listed as "Ongoing Improvements" and not "Fixed in UK World Update". Typically the reserve that tag for things that they can't completely fix for some reason. AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals

They already said they have a fix for it and will be in a future update, so it's possible they just forgot to update the feedback. Though the scenery spikes referred to here might not be the same ones that appeared in the latest page, but the ones that have existed since launch. Edited January 24, 20215 yr by Tuskin38

Typically the reserve that tag for things that they can't completely fix for some reason. I guess there are two types of spikes... the ones introduced in the December update - I'm pretty sure they're going to be fixed soon, they've confirmed that in an interview or in a forum post, and you can already fix it using a 3rd party add-on. But there've been more spikes from day 1, and they probably aren't as easy to fix, as they're spread out over the whole world in different types of terrain from different sources. This is typically related to mismatching elevation data in the data sets used for different levels of detail, leading to popping in and out of spikes as the LOD changes. This is most prominently seen with many lakes and rivers in arctic regions that sit on top of a plateau or occasionally in a deep valley. Saw this in Norway, north-eastern Canada, and particularly ugly in many parts of Greenland. I guess this could by identified and improved, at least partially, in an automated way, it's not too hard for an algorithm to recognise contradictory elevation data in the different LODs. But it's hard to tell how much work is really needed to fix it for good everywhere on Earth, when a range of different terrain mesh datasets from different sources of varying quality and issues is combined. As much as I'd love to see this fixed, I don't think we're getting there anytime soon, and it will likely be "ongoing" for quite a while longer. Another thing is that if the problem is in the source data, this proces needs to be repeated everytime that source data is updated. I hope that with time, these automated processes will improve but the problem might not away completely. The guys at Hifi have ways of getting directly into the running flight sim, which is how they were doing a lot of what they did with previous sims. They were going to wait until MSFS allowed access via the SDK, but since they're "officially" locked out, they'll likely be getting in unofficially. 🙂 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! January 25, 20215 yr This is what Damian had to say Quote I’ve no ill will towards MS/Asobo, and I think what they’ve done with weather and depiction is incredible. I wish we could participate with SDK and developer support, but that is no longer in the cards, so we will do the only thing we can, develop without that… in effort to survive, keep the bills paid and food on our tables, keep the dream alive, and deliver to our customers and supporters. As others have including REX and Orbx. source https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/open-up-the-weather-system-to-3rd-party-devs/266706/201

Resolution Bay airport used to be surrounded by them (I reported this one on zendesk myself), but they’re all gone now as of the last update, so they are working on them. They need bug reports though, people need to tell them exactly where it is happening, coordinates, screenshots etc Edited January 25, 20215 yr by Tuskin38
