Assuming you are using Multiplayer, I have found when setting up a flight if you have your Server set, [a lot of UK flyers appear to use Northern Europe], then select a departure airfield, then zoom in on it, (say Biggin Hill), then click on 'Show Details", if you wait a few moments you can see small 'Green' aircraft symbols of other aircraft in the vicinity of that airfield, [if there are any on your Server] If you Zoom out slowly you can see a geographical region, such as SE England. If you click on a Green aircraft symbol you should get a small pop up screen which shows, from memory, their Xbox name, aircraft, altitude etc. Very handy if looking for a flight to join. If nothing is showing, switch server. ( I think you need tail data On, Live traffic On & Multiplayer On. ie what you would have if you were doing a Group flight where aircraft flyer's names are visible above the aircraft) T45
March 15, 20215 yr Can anybody of you put it in perspective hardware-wise ? Is is easy enough for a lower-end machine like mine (see sig ) ? March 15, 20215 yr Somebody mentioned something like a "hidden autopilot". Can anyone elaborate this? I'd really like to take her for cross country flights but not without an AP please. :D Intel i9-13900K | Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master | RTX4090 | 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 | Be quiet! Involves keyboard mappings & tweaking systems.cfg. If no one comes through with something smarter, I'll describe the set up for that. T45
March 15, 20215 yr Bought it 😄. @Treetops45's pic of Ezer Weizman's Black Spit' 57 sold it to me. A first flight from Hatzerim AFB (IAF museum, a wonderful place) in the South to Ramat David AFB (of course !) in he North with a stopover in Sde Dov (Tel Aviv). Didn't kill my self (I extensively flew the Rob Young's Mk 14 in FS9 ) but the two rollouts were dicey... The whole airports are still laughing out as we speak 🤣. March 15, 20215 yr So, the only issue I have with it (and it isn't a big one) is that the internal sounds seem to be a bit 'stepped'. As you increase the throttle, the sounds don't transition very smoothly. It seems fine outside though, which is strange. Anyone else notice this? A little fix would be nice, as other than this I think the sounds are great! PS. I have version 1.01, and notice they might still have a few sound tweaks to do (door sound etc), so hopefully they can make the throttle up sounds a bit smoother. March 15, 20215 yr I agree about the 'stepped' throttle sound, although it's not too bad. I have been doing a couple of test flights with the my build of the Authentkit Spitfire MkIX throttle quadrant. This has a super smooth action on the levers; the flying iron spit responds well to this. I've also built the mk IX flight stick and trim wheel - the flight stick especially makes a huge difference in terms of fine control of the aircraft. I must say the AuthentiKit stuff is great - really well engineered free 3d printing plans, and a big boost in terms of immersion. I find it a lot easier to fly in VR when the controls fall where my eyes are telling them they should. Having said that I ended up doing some serious weathering to make it look even better when the VR headset is off 😀. Oh, and I'm still crashing on takeoff too regularly!
March 15, 20215 yr Couple of points: 1) Now I've seen the propeller "wobble" I can't unsee it! 2) the first patch didn't fix the VR Zoom not working, hope this is included next patch. Immense fun around Honolulu tonight, took three attempts to take off but once I got her up it was an absolute blast, love it! March 16, 20215 yr Bought this tonight and took her for a quick spin, what a joy to hand fly! I need to practise my "take offs"......lol Thomas Derbyshire
March 16, 20215 yr How do you guys switch the electrical system ON to get the ATC ? The manual speaks of a button in the throttle quadrant. Mousing it doesn't do anything on my end. Do I miss something ? Nice flight tonight from Barton to Brough. Well except of the dreadful wind turbines on one side of the runway 😏. You gotta have an excuse to mess it up, right ?
