February 7, 20215 yr Initial data looks impressive. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
February 7, 20215 yr I'm sort of skeptical. I mean I have a 9700k at 4.7. Probably can push it more. But is going from 4.7 to say 5.3 on this new CPU really worthy of a CPU/MB upgrade? 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
February 7, 20215 yr It also has only 8 cores compared to 10 cores of the 10900k Edited February 7, 20215 yr by 737_800

It is nice to read that newer, faster CPUs are becoming available, just like new automobiles... every year a new model.. That does not mean that you have to trade in your current vehicle if it does the job for you 😉 I am very happy that my current hardware runs both P3DV5 and MSFS nicely.. unlike the past where a new FS release meant a systems upgrade (each time..) All I had to do this time around, was add some RAM and a new SSD. Edited February 7, 20215 yr by Bert Pieke Bert

Whether it's worth it is subjective, a personnel choice. I'm guessing it would be about 40% faster in single core performance than your 9700K, if it really is 35% faster than the 10900K. About 11% faster multicore. We don't know how the reported score was achieved though, whether it was an overclock or stock, or what manner of cooling. Or if it was an engineering sample or the final product. Edited February 7, 20215 yr by martin-w

Everything is out of date within a nanosecond of being released. Why I didn't bother with the wait for the latest AMD CPU, and bought the Intel 10900K.

February 8, 20215 yr Will be interesting to see the fight sim reviews of this. Like most of you I’ve been disappointed with cpu technology compared to past years.
