What's Broke (1.13.16.0)

I'm one of those suffering with tearing. Never had it prior to the update and regardless of Vsync or Gsync on or off, the only thing I can find that clears it up is running in windowed mode.

Same here, setting Nvidia CP V-sync setting to FAST seems to have cured the problem with no side effect.

V-sync in game still turned off. Running full screen.

@Dillon are you going to keep a summary of the reported issues on the first post? That would be useful.

That's what this thread is for.

Looks like the terrain issues have been fixed.  No more spiking of terrain with towers where there shouldn't be.  Water climbing the sides of mountains/hills that rise out of the water has also been fixed.💯

It looks like cloud shapes and lighting have changed with the update, which in turn makes overall lighting of the scene a lot more pleasing when there are clouds. Other than that, I noticed that grain issue with clouds was a lot less pronounced.

PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM.

Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.

The FBW part of the A32NX is broken, no automatic nose down at 50 feet and it will float like crazy

Ok, FBW team is working on it, Asobo corrected the lift from the flap so FBW team need to remove their work around

Seems a bit too early to be beating up Microsoft and Asobo for this effort.

With past experiences and broken mods with each new update there's nothing wrong with asking.  Looks like Asobo knocked it out the ball park this time.  I'm happy to see the terrain spiking gone, improved clouds, and no more water climbing the sides of mountains.  These three alone swallows the other improvements as you can see this right out the gate.  With faster load times I can see much has improved under the hood.  Again there's nothing wrong with a one stop thread for all to compare notes/experiences.

I was doing a test flight in the Caravan and it’s floating too... haven’t had the chance to check any other airplanes.

I had to slow to the low 40s to touch down. It’s about 10 knots lower than before.

Looks like the internal sounds in the Carenado Mooney will need to be readjusted after the update.  The sound are glaringly loud now.

What?  Where did you get that from?  Did you post in the wrong thread?

This isn't meant to be beating up anybody, just sharing experiences and hopefully being able to help people if they are having difficulties with the update. Such as the screen tearing issue at the top of this page, and the A320 FBW issue above.

Lots of positives about the update, clouds improved, spikes gone etc.

So, sign me glass full to the top actually.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

It is better than you can really expect. It is the “go to” flight simulator now. The scenery and the weather are spectacular. The 787 and the A320 fly and behave. I have not had time to look at much else since the latest upgrade, but considering they are base aircraft we have come a long way. To get better aircraft I expect we will have to pay.

The Zibo 737 will keep X-Plane relevant and I wish them luck as they have given me hours of excellent flight sim experience, but we do move on. I am looking forward to the next X-Plane development. It is a competitive world.

Bobcat.  No I didn't post in the wrong thread.  I really was being a little "tongue in cheek".  I guess I thought that only being hours after the release of the product that maybe pointing out it's flaws was a little premature.  But then again, being objective, it is good to know both the good and bad.  All in all, I think that MS and Asobo have created a wonderful product, just with some flaws.

I do largely agree with your comments and think we are coming from the same place.

Same here. I still have it on my hard disk. The reality is though that MS / Asobo have much more resource than Laminar Research, so I can't see them ever catching up.

Some people think MSFS is a bit of a joke currently (some people in the P3D crowd etc.), but this is only going one way from now on. Give MSFS some time and it will be top notch.

How well is MMUN depicted?

Default isn't impressive. Hotel zone buildings are all 1 story. There are three addons that improve things.

There is a small package for Isla Mujeres. It isn't great up close, but it makes the island look better when you see it on approach. https://flightsim.to/file/4687/isla-mujeres-off-the-coast-of-cancun

There is a package for the airport. It looks like some have reported CTD's with it, but I haven't had any issues. It is basic, and T3 isn't complete. https://flightsim.to/file/5943/mmun-cancun

There is a payware version of the area that includes MMUN, the hotel zone, some of the ruins, MMCZ and a few other things. It definitely improves things, and the hotels that were done look pretty good. It provides enough of them to make the HZ look convincing enough from above. https://secure.simmarket.com/dxr-simulations-cancun-riviera-maya-tulum-holbox-and-chichen-itza-mexico-super-scenery.phtml
