What's Broke (1.13.16.0)

Only 16 hours from the Bugs and Issues thread being created to the Community Managers closing it.  Right in the middle of a really good discussion about what is going on.  A new record, and a new low for the official forums.

What's broke? The entire game is. After updating MSFS rebooted my PC during startup or when I just arrived at the main menu. Sudden black screen, total PC reboot. After doing so for about 10 times I was finally presented with the installation screen asking me where to installl the >150GB of data. In other words: this update killed MSFS for me. I envy everyone who still has a running copy because I won't be able to redownload >150GB anytime soon, specially not at the current low speeds. Bye bye for now. I'll go play ETS2.

Instead of giving up try to get some help. This whole hobby is about figuring out these kinds of issues and working through them.  The FSX community was the biggest example of this as that sim was broken out the gate with no monthly updates.  I'm sure something like a System Restore and other options will get you back up and running.

Hmmm  excessive floating was an issue since very beginning. I have flown Seminole and Caravan mod after UK world update and haven't noticed any changes frankly. I haven't touched TBM as I'm hoping for mod version

Railway bridges are broken. I just started a flight in the microlight following the South Wales Main Line up from Cardiff towards Bristol Parkway and Swindon. The large bridge over the River Taff at Cardiff West is missing with the tracks just dipping down into the gap, as are several smaller bridges flying east wherever there is a watercourse to cross. Road bridges don't have this glitch so why have the railway structures been neglected?

Is it me or has anyone tried using less flaps on landing?  You don't have to use full flaps.  Not excusing this but it's an option.

Anyone else taking a whole day to download? I’ve got great speeds, but it’s at 40 Mbits right now...

Before this update the TBM was at least close to real world landing performance. Now it's unusable for me. The CJ4 floating issue was bad before this update and now it's worse. It seems people are reporting the same issue for most of the default planes. I hope they fix this asap. I'll be grounded until then.

I enjoy the scenery in FS 2020 but I don't care all that much about these scenery updates. I spend most of my time at my local airport practicing landings with various aircraft and studying real world performance specs.

Earlier in this thread, or maybe another, someone was using that technique a la bush pilot - retracting flaps nearing touchdown.

Its a work around but highly in realistic and counter intuitive to most aircraft’s standard operation.

Imagine a real life A320 retracting flaps over the threshold...

I can't use flaps at all in the Caravan now. Engaging 1-notch instantly pitches plane up +1,200 fpm, and disengaging 1-notch pitches plane down -1,200 fpm. There is about a 300-foot change in altitude before it can be brought back in control.

The Mooney is also just as before after doing a few flights today.

That's not what I'm talking about.😶  I'm saying use a notch up from full flaps for the whole short final landing.  Never use full flaps unless your landing at a real short runway. This is how it is in real life especially GA. I never takeoff with any flaps in a 172.  Unless I'm in a steep decent sometimes I don't use full flaps for landing either, it depends on the winds over the runway.  Heck, to put it plane and simple you should be hearing the stall horn in many models before the wheels hit the runway.  Anything above that you will float.  Floating in real life takes time for some to avoid during their flight training.  I haven't checked with all birds but from what I'm seeing so far the sim is finally at a point you have to get the speed down to almost stall before you settle on the runway, that's real life.  Flight Sim's over the years never modeled this correctly.

Real A320 pilots dont use full flaps in cross winds or strong wings, its config 3.

Yeah, I know but that’s not what’s happening. Even without full flap, or no flap, it’s floating like a puck on an air hockey table — and self rotating too early, 30 knots on the Caravan with normal takeoff flap of 20.
