Random FPS drops with new MSFS update - "Red" manipulator

Featured Replies

Even that i had a significant improvement on performance with new update, sim is smoother and with less stutters etc i have a new weird issue:

Random FPS drops  ( from 70s-60s to 15fps ) with out a reason + red main thread +manipulators ( on developer mode ) with short length ( 30 sec to 1 minute )
First time i am facing  those weird drops which act randomly so far on many airports ( Europe-US tested so far)

Was checking CPU/GPU usage and everything was low with normal behavior  so i am starting to think that maybe this fps drop comes from Bing Data streaming etc

Let me know if anyone had/have this issue

thanks

Seth

Yes I noticed this yesterday on a short flight in the Airbus (FBW mod).

Generally the experience was very smooth but 2 or 3 times during the flight I noticed a sudden lag/decrease in smoothness which lasted for about a minute each.

I wasn't sure if it was a general sim issue or something specific to the A32NX, which also received an update.

Yep, noticed the same yesterday on my flight from EKCH to EGKK. Lasted about a minute, then it was smooth again.

I'm not sure if it's related to scenery loading, as mine also did it on the ground not moving at EGKK.

I didn't have the frame rate display on, but it became very obvious when panning around the cockpit that it wasn't as smooth all of a sudden.

I created a thread about this exact issue last night. Note that I was able to get performance back by turning off online services in general settings/data.

Thanks , and as i see you were flying with TBM, so its not A32NX( fbw) issue. Will check with online services, i hope is a streaming issue and not a serious bug.

I've experienced this in the Cessna G1000, so it does not sound aircraft specific.

There is a bug  with high altitude clouds that causes this something about using particle data. I think thier suppose to be cirrus clouds

I was flying in clear skies, and it seemed to be related to proximity to PAEN.

made a flight from KSJC-KSAN. Seems like a serious bug as i had it 3 times. the first was on Airport ( before take off) , then one cruise and  just before arrival to KSAN. It was clear Skies also with some clouds. When this happens GPU load goes to zero...this is really weird

Turning online services OFF is like going back to FSX times for this sim. All terrain detail, photogrammetry and AI autogen are lost.

Having the same issue here! Did a flight from SAN-DEN this morning and about 3/4 of the way through the flight my system tanked and I went from 70-80fps to below 20. It never corrected itself and I was stuck with poor performance. I ended the flight and once I restarted, all was good. Haven't done another flight to reproduce.

I noticed that my GPU wasn't being used throughout my short low level flight cruising around Tokyo just looking at the photogrammetry. The load on my GPU was anywhere between 0 and 1% throughtout the whole time which was about twenty minutes. Well that's what Task Manager was reporting.

Edited by Tailwinds

Same problem this morning fluid 30fps with VSYNC RTSS and for 3 4min drops to 15 17 FPS then back to 30 ...

I also have the same problem on high altitude clouds ...

And I wanted to know how to get the GPU to be close to 100% utilization?
Because when I look in the task manager I'm always between 15 and 20%

Same problem here also. Last night I got the same sudden frame drop at 36000 ft for no obvious reason and GPU fell from 65% to 20. however when this happened while on autopilot I noticed my plane fbw320 dev version had hard right rudder. nothing I could do could regain rudder control and I crashed lol. Today I started up a flight at kmia and before I could leave the gate I got the sudden slam to the CPU and immediate drop in fps and GPU.Again I noticed hard right rudder was applied and no matter what i did with the rudder pedals it would always go back to hard right rudder. This time I WENT INTO THE CONTROLS.and changed the rudder sensitivity settings.

the dead zone I set to 10% and the extremity dead zone I set to 10%.

Happy to report an uneventful flight from KMIA to KJFK with these settings for first time since the last update. All cpu and GPU rates were normal for my settings.

This may explain why not everyone is not experiencing this behaviour as it is hardware related.
