Usually 90% CTD created by freeware in the Community folder. 😀

Not in my case. I use the Addon linker, and only load in the airfields required for the flight,(which are known working addons with no issues prior to hotfix)

Mine is empty.

It's all good and welll to state it's your PC or some hardware, cooling issue. But when the said PC works perfectly since the last World update, then suddenly right after yet another Hotfix, the CTD's return immediatly.

did yo check if maybe settings were changed?

did you check maybe other windows updates?

maybe  a mod issue?

That's why then!

You need the Mod 'STOP CTD'. Download it from https://flightsim.to and pop that in your Community folder; Hey presto! no more CTDs.

I can't find the link to it. Sorry 😉

Think i have found it, OC was back on in the Bios?? back to the previous stable GPU driver (despite the latest working perfectly till the hotfix) and limiting to 30fps, 3 flights all good so far.

Thanks

Runs like a Volkswagen,  no ctd for month

Doesn't run like my Volkswagen😉 - Got an old MK IV Golf GTI - Every time I climb in to it and turn the ignition on it pipes up about Errors and Faults. With over 120K on the clock these days I'm putting it down to Automotive Senile Dementia on it's part. No plans to get rid of it. It is very, very fast having been re-mapped by REVO Tech and lovingly cared for by yours truly.

I guess we're all getting different results on our Sims - and it just goes to show how rig-bound this Sim is. I feel lucky everyday - I've got a comparatively old Rig - 4790K - O/C - GTX 1080 Ti, 16 Gig and some SSD's and I'm flying steam gauges on or about 65 FPS and Glass around about 45 FPS. But it IS A SIM ONLY rig. That's all id does; it's not my Daily Windows PC. I've done the NICK B Bible of the olden days and dislocated numerous Windows Services. All it does is run MSFS 2020. And as a result; it does it very well. Probably slightly better than someone with a Gaming Rig with twice the spec but a whole load of other stuff going on.

Most settings HIGH - some on MEDIUM. Clouds only on ULTRA. LIVE Weather, Sometimes Multiplayer ON, most times OFF.

Got zero to complain about.

I was going to say if it runs anything like the VWs I've had it will want EGR, DPF and DMF doing. And then lie about how much stuff it's putting out. Still could be worse, it could run like a BMW, CTD every week 🤣

If it runs like a VW, it means the computer lies abut the emissions.

More the driver at his age 😉

But back to the topic, I had realy no issus with the sim, runs with locked 33 frames nearly everywhere and looks so fantastic

By the way, my last VW was a 1967 Beetle 😉

Best bit of advice I was given when I was buying my GTI was - If the EML Light is NOT illuminated - walk away.

Experience has proved this absolutely correct. VW's will illuminate the Engine Managemant Light even if the 12V Cigar Lighter has failed.

And get this! - even if it it hasn't got one!

Gotta' love 'em.

This is a good sticker to have as it shoves two fingers up at the rest of the motor industry who stood by whilst the EU made an example of VW;

Back on Topic. It does seem that there is a gross disparity between Rig Specs.

As other more knowledgeable Forumites have pointed out - Flight Sims are very System Heavy in a way that other Gaming is not so much.

If one is to enjoy the full benefit of a Flight Simulator then one should consider building a dedicated rig - that does only that.

I know, I know, budgets, etc. But in the long term it's going to alleviate CTDs, problems, etc and remember; a servant cannot have two Masters; if you're tasking (multi-tasking) a PC to do a whole load of stuff (basically being a pack-pony) - and then, when you boot MSFS 2020 - demanding it becomes a race horse.

You're going to lose the race.

Just out of curiosity, is the hotfix automatic???  I started FS up today and got no new update even though it looked for an update...So I had nothing to install.

Did you check the Microsoft Store? Just launching the sim will not install the update, or it did not for me. I had to go to the MS Store, click Get Updates, install it and then restart the sim. YOue mileage may vary 🙂
