461.92 Nvidia Driver

Featured Replies

My VR set is in the mail to me, so I haven't experienced VR yet for a few more days.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Haven't run the sim yet but my desktop and microsoft outlook are definitely improved

For over a month now some Youtube VR channels have said to roll back to September 2020 nViidia drivers. Maybe this new driver will change that advice soon?...

I can confirm that until now - at least on my system - the best driver was 457.30.

However take youtubers' advice as a lead but do your own testing. There is also a lot of BS on YT.

It's excellent!  My stutters in MSFS have gone from 11 FPS to 12 FPS!

Lol same. I am on a 2080 and 6700k and 32GB RAM and I have had terrible performance since the WU3.

5700X3D

64GB DDR4-3600MHz

Gigabyte 4070 Super

Game installed on 980 PRO

Main display Gigabyte M27Q X 27" 1440p 240Hz

jumped on it with my 1660s, see no real improvements in FPS (didn't expect much tbh on my old system) but noticed some more artifacts and grainy textures here and there, e.g. for shadows and when flying through fluffy clouds.

No improvement for me on WMR-OpenXR. All drivers have been the same.

Haven't yet tried with steam-OpenXR

It is hard to know as some people may be getting genuine improvements just because they deleted the old driver that was badly installed rather than anything to do with the new driver.

It does seem that most of the people claiming benefits are on 30xx cards not 20xx .

Yet there are a number of 30Xx users having tried and reverting to 457.30. I've seen quite a few posts about this at the FS2020 forums. And given Manuel's comment about how ONLY FS2020 is having peculiar frame timings... I would wait the next FS2020 update before concluding anything.

Using Gigabyte "RTX 3070 Gaming OC" with "AMD 5600X + 32GB 3200MHZ RAM" and after performing some tests with 461.92 I decided to revert back 457.30 as it performs much better for me.

Even on default NCP settings there is a considerable difference in terms of performance. A bit weird but it's the fact for me now. I wonder why most of the people gain on new driver and why some other like me not ?

Kind regards.

Your system is the same as mine , so your comments are particularly helpful.  I would be interested to hear what OC settings you are able to get up to and what you find to be stable.

Oh sorry,

With stating "Gaming OC" I tend to show my GPU version.

Also I tried overclocking couple of times but after some tests I come to a conclusion that it wouldnt be feasible to push my system for gaining extra 2 3 fps.

Kind regards.

Is it safe to use an old nvidia driver? what about the security issues that nvidia stated.

Having also 3090 and using the latest studio driver ( just for testing)

Yep, the bit of mild overclocking I tried gained very little but became unstable, so I reverted to stock.

Back at Christmas time, I had to roll back drivers to 457.51 to get past constant CTDs that the update and drivers had introduced back then.  I stopped using the sim after that... and I've just upgraded my hardware and re-installed the sim after 3 months, and what do you know... The latest drivers 461.x are causing CTDs nearly as soon as I enter the sim.  FFS!

I had really hoped that a few months might have improved things.  Clearly not. 😞 This software is the worst.
