March 26, 20215 yr Okay I don't want to sound negative but it looks like they couldn't nail down the performance issue completely from that tone (I appreciate the honesty however). Therefore, it means that the general performance issues that many of us are having won't be solved by this patch 😦. However, I would really think they should delay WU4 until they cold nail down the root cause, adding new features for a broken update, will make things even worse to troubleshoot the root cause of the performance issue. March 26, 20215 yr Great update. Fixing every performance issue someone has in a hotfix was never an option. Sounds like they are fixing the dreaded huge long stutters we seem to all be experiencing (or most of us) and that's good enough.

March 26, 20215 yr Well, let’s wait and see. Since we can have these big FPS drops even in the menu’s, that has nothing to do with class B space also. So let’s wait and see. March 26, 20215 yr Looking forward with crossed fingers to trying - hopefully no more stutters and big frame rate drops. We have enough of the world to explore right now in MSFS - so why don’t they delay all world updates and spend 3 to 6 months on optimisation in readiness for DX12. Get the game in a really good place (clearly it isn’t right now) then build upon it with graphical niceties - just a thought. Anyway, I wrote this based on what they wrote and explicitly highlighted, they are lowering down the expectations on what the patch can do obviously. However, I really hope it will be a big help for many of us and I hope I am wrong as well. Anyway, in few hours we will know the story of the patch Edited March 26, 20215 yr by omarsmak30 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display

That is what I suggested before in the official fourms and many started to attack me for some reason 🙄. Ironically, the sim was actually very stable prior to UK update and many were happy. Since UK updates and problems have started and the last update was like the step that took us back to the release date performance issues. Anyway, I hope Asobo will really nail down these pefromacne issues for good as they are really immersion killer, where before the norm was like 34-40 fps and now I would be happy if I can get 25 (my norm now is 15-25fps) Edited March 26, 20215 yr by omarsmak30 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display

March 26, 20215 yr The more I read this, the more I hope and think this is the problem. If these is a bug that makes the sim requesting something, that to me tells me why we can get the huge FPS hit, anywhere even in the menu's. I'm pretty sure they have a dedicated team that is working on the world updates, so I feel like it wouldn't matter.
March 26, 20215 yr Author Regarding this hotfix, remember that Jörg said in the last Q&A that they had already identified and fixed a couple of things that could cause performance issues, and were thinking of creating a hotfix. So I guess that they finally decided to release that one, after doing enough testing of course (whether that will be enough remains to be seen). The Class B issue might or might not be separate, but a developer said a few days ago that he could reproduce it and that they were looking into it, which means that it might not be fixed with today's hotfix indeed. 2 hours ago, Tomaz Drnovsek said: The FPS dropping bug has nothing to do with big airports. Some people have reported worse performance around large airports since the UK World Update. I've seen LFPG being mentioned a lot. 1 hour ago, markk71 said: Does this "off Option" mean they are not going to improve this but only give the option to turn it off? Martial said in the last Q&A that icing, while being a very complex thing, currently the simulator only has one layer implemented so it is a bit exaggerated. For now they will provide an option to turn it off because it can be uncomfortable for VR users, but they will look into fixing that in the future. 14 minutes ago, dikkeduif said: I'm pretty sure they have a dedicated team that is working on the world updates, so I feel like it wouldn't matter. I don't know for sure so I'm only making a guess here, but if it's something in the scenery component causing at least some of those performance issues, I think delaying the World Updates would be reasonable. Besides the scenery team have a lot of other things they need to fix, like the reduced tree draw distance, terrain morphing, POI pop-in and coastline glitch, so putting the World Updates aside to give them breathing room to fix those LOD and other issues would be more beneficial to the simulator in the short term at least.

While the world team may be separate, and not draw direct resources away from the team(s) working on the core sim, the world updates do impact the operation of the core sim, and often to a certain degree adversely. For a program in which there are core elements still in need of development or refining, maybe more focus is required, fewer development tracks and updates. Honestly, I really am enjoying this sim, but at the same time I am growing weary of all the updates and hotfixes. Edited March 26, 20215 yr by Cognita MSFS 2024.
