Hardware - got a different monitor laying around? Try that. Have multiple hard drives? Try installing on a different one. Even external hard drive if you got one. Switching hardware around can help troubleshoot.

And if that doesn't work, which it probably won't, wait for Asobo to fix the bugs in the program.

I get that some people don´t get CTDs, in fact I didn´t get any until WU3, but crashes are so common for so many people now, that it´s beyond doubt that the simulator is far from stable, trustworthy and it´s worrying for the franchise as a whole. There is something serious happening and they better fix it soon or,...

Is any part of your PC system overclocked in any way or form.  If so remove any overclocking and run stable.

If you have had things in the community folder previously, have you not only cleared the folder, but also done a deep scan and removed any lingering "things" that might have been left behind???    for example.. I removed things from my community folder, but found another one on the C Drive.. even though everything I have is on the D drive which still had some data in it.     If found remove and try again.

Check your registry entries are correct and clean the registry..  then try again.

Do you have any of the caches on...   if so delete caches and try again.

Have you updated to 1.15.8  if not do so and try again.

Have you at any stage changed a delivered file or config or tried something out of left field like one of the programs that promises you a tenth of an FPS improvemenbt or anything like Project Lasso or anything..  if so  go back to vanilla and try again.

Have you tried running it without any peripherals connected.. if not do so and try again.

Finally, do a deep scan to look across your whole system for duplicate files and ensure that is clean..  and try that.

And between each test do a full reset of the machine and start again.

I mean.. all this is basic trouble shooting, but just checking you have done these things 🙂

Regards

Graham

There is clearly an issue somewhere, hardware or possible another software interfering because like many here, my MSFS runs perfectly over 600 hours and runs smooth. So the core simulator coding is "fine" on its own, but SOMEHTING is obviously not playing nice with the OP's sim.

I brought up hardware because I had no problems with CTD's, bought a new monitor and boom got CTD's. Changed some monitor settings and been perfect since. Seems MSFS is very hardware sensitive.

I'm running this sim on ancient hardware and can count the number of times I had crashes on the fingers of one hand. I had a couple of crashes at the beginning, this was due to broken/missing runtime libraries. I had crashes with vol. 0.9. of the WT CJ4, which went away after WT released WT 10.0

I've had one or two crashes related to my low system ram, but that's about it.

IMHO, the vast majority of CTDs are related to the user's setup, in terms of hardware, controllers, various conflicting mods, faulty hardware, overclocks, drivers, AV software, hardware not able to drive the setting selected, etc.

All in all, I've had a fraction of the problems I had with P3D, and I've played MSFS a whole lot more than I have played P3D.

Well, as I said, a CTD log somewhere could help us all make FS a little less nitpicky.

The point I also made.

There is none or rather none really useful so what do you do from here ?  You leave or try to find a solution ?

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

I've had v few issues of CTDs that were the fault of the Sim. I had the CJ4 CTD last year, and occasional ones since then, mostly due to out of date mods. Last week I ran of space on Drive C and - yes I got a CTD.

So I agree MSFS is at least as stable normally as P3D - if not more so than P3D v5 was in its early days for sure.

But the fact remains that performance issues have arisen recently, without any changes to my no doubt v imperfect and flawed old machine. Asobo has already admitted they are still looking at ongoing performance issues in their recent 15 April report.

So this is definitely happening notwithstanding and alongside all the other issues and no doubt sound advice being given here.

I had the same problem until i did this, no more crashes til now (except lately because of the wasm module bug).

Sorry to hear this.

Is everything up to date on your PC?

Windows Update

BIOS

Main board drivers

Video driver (do a clean install)

Sound driver

Controller drivers

Etc.

Any 3rd party antivirus running?

Hope you get it sorted..

I have been trying to pinpoint the source of the CTD all day long. So far, apart from the usual suspects, the only culprit I can think of is a navigational error due to a Navigraph update not working with a LNM flightplan. Don´t get me wrong , I love this sim, it´s just the difficulty to understand where CTds come from that gets me.

This is not true!!! MSFS2020 is the most stable simulation platform ever made!
