May 14, 20215 yr X-Plane has a cult following which keeps it alive. I won't be deleting it because of all the money I've invested on addons in the hope that they will be compatible with X-Plane 12 if and when it appears. Hopefully XP12 will drag it closer to being up to date in terms of graphics and performance.

Explain to me what a study level 172 is? and I've helped a few students get the Private Pilot Certificate & Instrument rating in 172SPs and N models. But who wants to brag. 😀 Study level means that the airplane can be used to simulate RW VFR & IFR flights, the FD exhibits a realistic behavior, and the main systems are modeled. That's my definition. Yours might be different. MSFS

I only have the 777 and EPGD addons so not much money spent on it When you say keep what do you mean? Are you trying to get a refund or just want to uninstall? Also, this is probably a Hanger Chat topic IMO. 😳 Regards bs Edited May 14, 20215 yr by bean_sprout AMD RYZEN 9 5900X 12 CORE CPU - ZOTAC RTX 3060Ti GPU - NZXT H510i ELITE CASE - EVO M.2 970 500GB DRIVE - 32GB XTREEM 4000 MEM - XPG GOLD 80+ 650 WATT PS - NZXT 280 HYBRID COOLER
May 14, 20215 yr I use both and will always keep it this way. I use XPlane 11 as my airliner sim (mostly B737-800) and MSFS as my GA low level bush-flying sim. I have invested a lot of time into XP11 and really love it, specially its installation design - everything contained in one folder. Managing modding it is also a breeze. I have just got MSFS and I love its visuals which are perfect for low and slow back country GA flying. I do not like it for jet flight, for that I prefer XP11. As far as I'm concerned these two titles are excellent in their own way and they are not rivals on my system, they compliment each other nicely 😃 Do whatever makes you happy, ignore the mud slinging that camps from either side hurl at each other - you will see this sometimes lol. This is a niche genre and all virtual aviators should get along no matter the platform. Happy flying!
May 14, 20215 yr I wouldn’t be in a rush to uninstall it unless you need the hard drive space or something. Leave it there and after a few months if you haven’t used it maybe uninstall it then. I haven’t flown P3D in several months now but it’s not harming anything sitting on my hard drive so I’ll leave it for now in case I get the urge to fly one of my airliners there, though that seems less and less likely as time wears on. May 14, 20215 yr X-P11. Keep it. With ORBX add ons, canada for X-P airports and others the airports are superb. Weather in X-P is much more accurate than MSFS. Aircraft (add-on) in X-P are excellent. The included X-P aircraft....... specifically King Air 90 with the -21 engines is modelled exceptionally well - I flew one about 600 hours between 2010-2015 when I could get out of the office to maintain some level of proficiency.....Actually when I installed the X-P demo it was the first aircraft i loaded up and was surprised. it is a good sim and other than visuals the MSFS will be some time before it gets good aircraft (Aerosoft CRJ aside), decent weather.....imho. MSFS eye candy is indeed excellent.

Exactly what I do as well, XP11 for my Zibo, Toliss, Xcraft, SSG etc and IFR flights, MSFS strictly VFR.
May 14, 20215 yr @canuk22 yes I could never given up the B737-800 on XP11, for airliner simming I find it extremely satisfying. The Zibo is a true gift even though I can only fly it over remote areas (weak comouter = low FPS) so I mostly fly the stock B738 with some mods. I dont mind the visuals either. I did enjoy the GA bush flying in XP11 too (theres a fantastic C172 bush mod) but then thats when I found myself wishing for better low level visuals. MSFS came along and now its become so great. I treat one as a VFR bush flying experience and when I wanna put on the Captains hat I fire up XP11. Edited May 14, 20215 yr by ThrottleUp

I think he was asking is anything running in the background when XP-11 is not actually launched? As far as I am aware, there is NOT? Only he knows what he was asking? The reason for asking if he needed to uninstall I think? "Coffee, if your not shaking, you need another cup" Flight Sim Break Discord Channel: https://discord.com/invite/fCV62Ka2QZ

Don't a lot of people get their Private Pilot License in planes like the 172? And even though it's way less switches and such than a commercial jet. Don't you have to learn the proper procedures for starting it, flying it, landing it, etc.. Meaning isn't every aircraft Study Level, or can be. BTW, I hardly ever do things properly. I can't sit in a real world aircraft and hit Control E, and it starts for me 🙂 Also don't you take test in real life so you have to Study? Also, in a sim I think the doors opening, storage areas ( planes that have them outside ), cabin lights, etc... I actually don't care for the study level term, but it is what it is. In real life you have to study to fly any aircraft correct? Just more to it as the aircraft is more complicated. Study Level not here, FUN yes! Doesn't mean I don't want every switch, door, panel and stuff to work for other people. In fact I do! BTW, this has been a fairly civil conversation about two sims. Everyone must be ill or something 🙂 "Coffee, if your not shaking, you need another cup" Flight Sim Break Discord Channel: https://discord.com/invite/fCV62Ka2QZ
