Is there any way to increase the range ring for trees?

And there we go again, the community will fix this again and Asobo guys are still scratching their heads about what they could possibly do... how embarassing for them. Looking forward to your fix, Rob.

Greetings, Chris

There just seems to be a lack of understanding sometimes.  On the previous twitch feed before last, they gave a complex explanation, including video/photos, of how they had not reduced the tree draw distance, but because they reduced the tree sizes to something they considered to be more natural (about 80%), it just looks like there are less trees in the distance due to the size change.  This is true, and we get that!

But, they missed the point, which was...

We had perfectly good freeware tree mods that increased the tree LOD/range beyond all recognition with minimal, if any, performance impact.  Lots of people liked this.
A change Asobo made stopped these from working.  They seem to completely not recognise that these tree mods existed.

Some will say why should they recognise them?  Well, they recognise a lot of other stuff as a worthwhile improvement, such as the FBW A320, and the WT Garmin mods, so why not this?

Anyway, I look forward to Rob's solution.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Well Rob, you wont need me then, as I can see no difference at all. Perhaps it is time I booked an appointment with an optician 🙂

Did you watch the video in full screen? Otherwise, the difference is barely noticeable.

As blind as Asobo Studio engineers? Can't see any difference between these images either? I see a lot of poor comparison images about the draw distance issue but these two show the real deal the best.

I'm on mobile and saw the difference. It's hardly a challenge to see it.

Great job

As Rob suggested, on full screen I could see it very well, but at my working place the resolution is not as good and I could barely see it without using full screen. Maybe my eyes are a little old too. Anyway, it makes a huge difference imo and I'm looking forward to get this mod. Thanks to Rob in advance!

I did, but my screen is not 4k, perhaps that makes a difference?

I still cannot see a difference so the answer to your question is possibly in the affirmative.

agreed...

I was a bit shocked to hear them speak about my (and others) issues about a selected hangar type heights being way to tall at the non-enhanced airports.  If you recall their was a response about a certain apartment building in only a certain region being to tall and they fixed this right away.  But for this hangar type it was said by them '... well there are calculations ect...', in essence just a total blow off but I swear this this has got to be easy.  Somewhere in their code is a single line associated with this height, just adjust it (probably a feet/meters thing).

So, yeah, they missed the point there also...

I recently started into MS20.  I come from that other sim that folks here like to bash for some odd reason.

I did a flight up northern Canada, Norway and places in the USA as my test flights.  My jaw dropped at the line of trees not far out from the nose of my plane, and the rest of the scenery was flat ortho.  Annoying for sure as others here have identified.

I will apply (install) or buy whatever addon becomes available to fix the low LOD draw distance of trees in MS20 because as it is, the current view is unacceptable.

Rob could be the pog champ here if he maybe gives us our trees back to how they were..

And I don't want to encourage anything, but I'd gladly pay bucks..  The ring of trees nullifies any of the beauty of the sim for me.  It'd be nice to stick a finger up to Asobo for a while too.  While they've produced an amazing sim, it sometimes feels like they really don't get it with the most basic of stuff.
