Love him or hate him. His "practice" sure is good at generating headlines.   Might be better off just not talking about him. He's getting exactly what he wants without even trying..  Clicks.

I'm wondering why when critics are coming, it's called hate. There is nothing about hate. Critics can be constructive, a call to think about what can be right or not. I don't hate CS, I don't like their practices for now and that's pretty different. For example, if I want a 777, I want a 777, not a fake one. Already calling it 777 when the systems are 747 is very borderline to me. I'm also not a hardcore simer but when I buy a cat, I don't want a dog and if the seller tells me this cat is a dog, excuse me but something is wrong (sorry for the analogy). Calling an aircraft  "777-300" when it's, in fact not one, is honest? And then when you point this, you become a hater? Oh, excuse me but... And they do that not one time, but twice? Some moders do that, an hybrid aurcraft, but they have the decency to not asking money for that.

Styckx, with all my respect, you're wrong when you say they're getting what they want without even trying: they wanted my money and they will not get it.

Awesome! yet another CS bashing thread, can't wait for the next one.

Have they fixed the Transponder?

IF NO,. NO SALE!

All I wanna say is: if they can’t even meet the minimum benchmark that the majority of freeware developers are setting, they don’t deserve the sale.

If they can’t generate genuine original content and have to resort to using various default assets and ported 3D models, they’re not worth giving $35. I mean come on, I’ve seen free Half Life mods on the Steam workshop with more effort put into them…

You know... with how bad this whole MSFS deal with CS is - you read some people going "oh here we go, the CS haters are back - another CS bashing thread"...

YES. YES. YES. Why should anyone be happy about anything they are doing? They are LITERALLY writing a textbook on how to destroy any credibility you had in the past. And yeah, every time they pull garbage moves (which they will do, mark my words), there will be another thread. You enjoy your Captain Sim "777" products? Great! You are in that segment of buyers they clearly targeted here - you don't really care about much in terms of systems fidelity or accurate modeling. Enjoy. Don't be surprised when those of us who DO care about those things call this product out for exactly what it is - horse****.

Agree its not about hate at all.  Its all about trying to keep the simming community aware of this predatory developer who's currently having a feeding frenzy on unsuspecting new simmers.

Personally I don't really care at all as I know I'll never buy his products, but I have the benefit of experience that new simmers don't.   How do they get that experience?  Either by buying the product then having issues and going to the support site, like this new simmer did:

b98o8U.jpg

Or by maybe reading a forum thread either here or on the MSFS forums and seeing what other simmers are saying about the product.

Seems this new simmer ALSO expected that he was getting...oh I don't know, a 777 for his $30, not a shell with all 747-8 systems.

Its only after he bought his non-refundable plane that he has to learn that he's stuck with something he didn't expect by venturing into the support forums.  Why doesn't CS put that link he shared above in the sales page of the 777?  That sure would save a lot of time having to answer the same question over and over from new buyers, wouldn't it?  Why does his sale page just say "Essential functionality paired with default 747 systems simulation" instead of the details you get on his support page?

What exactly does that mean?...a question nobody expects, that on face value, means this is literally an FSX port riding exclusively on the default 747-8 systems.   "paired"???   Surely that means he just didn't reinvent a lot of systems common to the Boeing fleet, and of course there is custom 777 coding unique to that model "paired" with the existing systems.

I don't expect those who only come here to hate on the "haters" to even understand the concept of fair business practices, let alone assume there are some rather naïve simmers out there who will fall victim to this due to their only flaw that is trusting of a commercial dev who purposely writes deceptive text on his sales page for the express purpose of reeling these fish in.

I know....all you hater haters just want to say "Well they shoulda have done some more research before they bought it"...I agree but that is not the point and is a useless statement much like the phrase "closing the barn door after the horses got out".  The point is that we as a community should feel compelled to protect those simmers as best we can, and not get triggered when a CS post comes out where you feel the need to ridicule a subject you proclaim not to care about.  If that is the only reason your here, then you become the very person you claim all the CS haters are...you're a hater of posts that try to keep the community aware of predatory sales tactics.

So unless someone is forcing you to read these posts...I can promise they are not charging YOU the bandwith costs of maintaining these threads...so do your blood pressure a favor and just skip them...you'll be a happier person unless you enjoy pointing out the obvious fact that you hate haters. 🤣

I see Captainsim is doing the price game again. Just received an email that the 767 is $20 off. I figured it was from the $ 79.76 price. No it’s from the $99.76 price they raised it too after the beta ended which the $20 off makes it $79.76 again. So theres really is no discount. They still list the overall price as $134.99 which is ridiculous.
No wonder new users can get confused when they play the pricing game.

Yeah sadly I agree @styckx....any publicity these days seems to be a "good" thing even when its bad publicity.

I fear that not talking about it though will only embolden him to become even more deceitful if there is zero talk of the bad things.

Case in point was his disastrously bad idea to threaten a lawsuit against flightsim.to and the painters who didn't fall in line with his insane idea of owning everyone's paints.  THAT is the one time I've seen him back-peddle from customer/community outrage...(other than when he tried to end FS2004 dev right in the middle of his 1st 757 project and try to force everyone to FSX, at the time nobody had a machine powerful enough to run).

So enough negative press does influence him, but my point is that if we just give him a pass on what he's currently doing with this pricing scheme and deceptive marketing pitch, he's gonna' reel in a lot of unsuspecting fish, and that's just not fair to the new folks who just want a solid plane for their money.

As corny as it sounds, I want to try my best to protect the new MSFS simmers and not let their 1st foray into this wonderful hobby be an encounter with CS's deceptive business practices.

LOL....it never ends Dan!

This little tactic gets a lot of entertainment value...

I guess there is still a group of customers who'll see this and think "Oooh....I better buy it NOW before prices go up! $79.76 is such a great deal!"

How many years has the 757 been at $75.70 now?  When's it gonna go to $99.99?  Uhh...never...it never was...just another slick marketing tactic.

And NOW....through the "exclusive" email marketing scheme, you... Dan ...can now get the 767 for 20% off the retail price!!!!...but you better HURRY because this offer ends soon, and even if you miss it, you better go get it at $79.76 before it goes up to $134.99! 🤣

To be honest, I've never really been one to bash them in the past, I even gave a couple of their products Avsim award recommendations back when I was a reviewer for this site. But just as I've praised them for decent stuff they've made, I'll go the opposite way when they deserve criticism. And in fairness, I think I gave their MSFS 777 about as fair a review as it deserved rather than just slagging it off, as many reviews did, if you watch it, from about the 46 minute timestamp, i.e. about the last minute of the review, you'll see I neither recommend it nor don't recommend it, I simply say 'It's entirely up to you'. However, in the posts below on my review, I do refer to the 'paint scheme fiasco' and I pinned my comment about it as well, because that was a behaviour that I will slag off, all day every day, and twice on Sundays.

Big difference from reviewing and bashing, and I thought you did a fair review. I was just sarcastically pointing out that some people can’t seem to let the whole 777 thing go as we have yet another post just for that reason. I enjoy your reviews. I almost hate to say it but I have seen several YouTube videos of people really enjoying the 777. Don’t they know any better? Haha. Didn’t purchase it myself, not a big fan of the type, but the CS 757 in FSX was a big favorite.

Yup, I liked their 757 too. I know a lot of people didn't, but I thought it was okay. Was more a fan of their old bangers like the 707 and 727 though. looks like those days are gone.

No idea why this particular individual has developed an obsession" in regards to CS.

The majority of simmers are going to look at their website, read the reviews, watch youtube videos, and make up their own minds.
