The phrase "a distinction without a difference" comes to mind here! As long as you're happy, that's all that matters. But for me, the difference between 30FPS and 60FPS is very noticeable, especially when I do any kind of camera panning or use the drone. Everyone needs to find their happy place 🙂 Edited July 5, 20214 yr by Virtual-Chris
July 6, 20214 yr I certainly am not trying to persuade anyone to play at any FPS other than what they want to play at, but I encourage players to experience 60 FPS or higher if they can. They might like it. I think why 30 is good for some people is that they might be playing on a TV and not a low latency PC monitor. The TV may have some smoothing built in or the high latency may induce just the right amount of blurriness to create a smoother experience. Edited July 6, 20214 yr by Blueline308
July 6, 20214 yr 60fps > 30fps but most of us can’t get there in MSFS. I am happy to get 30 with my 8 year old setup. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

I have a high resolution 1200 x1600 monitor and, as I said earlier, typically have smooth flight at locked 30 FPS. If I unlock it I often see higher FPS -- up to 60 -- but don't see any difference in performance from 30, which is why I keep it locked at 30. Why wouldn't I?

July 6, 20214 yr Somehow I think motion picture cameras produced very smooth images 2 centuries ago... 1899.... Normandy, France ! 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
July 6, 20214 yr Well, that video was originally 15 fps. It's been upscaled to 60. Still a great watch, mind!

You think wrong, this movie is heavily doctored by AI. The original is 15 fps (very choppy) and 240p not 4k. No color, no sound either. July 6, 20214 yr ^obviously, you are correct in all that. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
July 6, 20214 yr However, it is also very true that old unrestored movies look choppy mostly because they are edited on machinery that runs with more frames per second than the original footage. And to synchronize blank frames must be inserted. Making what originally looked smooth in theaters look choppy to modern audiences watching the same scenes. This phenomenon is always covered in books and courses on vintage movie appreciation. They caution to ignore the choppiness because it wasn't like that originally. Choppiness was not an issue with silent movies during their heyday and the frame rates were at 16 fps standard for most of those decades. Modern theater film, however, ran at 24 fps from say 1930 and still does run at that speed today. 24 adds some perceived smoothness but not very much, compared to long time olds standard of 16 fps. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. True but, as good as we, the French, are, Méliès or the Lumière brothers didn't invent 4K/60 fps color sonorized movies 122 years ago 🤣. The movie is interesting in many ways, it vividly recreates the life of good people long gone but it also shows the tremendous potential of AI to fake, a major issue in the decades to come. Stalin and Mao's photographers editing out from photos disgraced (and shot) opponents were merry amateurs.
