July 3, 20214 yr It is pretty obvious from the Asobo twitch data, and from various people testing the latest build who have confirmed the performance increases, that we definitely will have some extra headroom to play with now. I am interested in what others will do with this extra headroom, and some ideas. My setup runs locked at vsync 30 anyway from inside the sim, and is fairly smooth apart from what I believe are scenery loading pauses. However, I have to run 4k at 70% scaling to achieve this. So the first thing I will try is 80% scaling, as I notice even that 10% extra makes the glass cockpits and steam gauges look nice and sharp. 90% scaling may be a bit too much to ask for, but I will give it a go! My ultimate aim would be for a stable 60 FPS at about 80% of 4k, but I think this would be out of reach until maybe I could get a n RTX 3080 when the prices and availability are right, and with the latest sim performance increases, it looks like that might be possible. Ideas and thoughts below!... What will you do with it? Edited July 3, 20214 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). July 3, 20214 yr My goal is getting a stable 60 FPS on my Ryzen 3900X paired with my RTX 3070 at 1440p. From what I've seen, this might be possible. Edited July 3, 20214 yr by Der Zeitgeist
July 3, 20214 yr I dont think i'll even aim for 60FPS as it seems just unnecessary. I too am running at 30FPS and have found a setup that is 100% smooth except those (as you described them) loading stutters from time to time. I'm having almost everything set to ultra except some options i just don't need such as Bushes/Grass. 100%renderscaling at 4k. I just hope with the upcoming promises that those loading stutters will be gone and the LOD distances will be back to normal. If yes, i'll be the happiest Simmer. July 3, 20214 yr As I already have most things on ultra and happy with my 30FPS lock, I will simply enjoy the increased smoothness over heavy areas like photogrammetry cities. That is all, I am looking WAY more forward to the tree LOD fix, tbh. Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024
July 3, 20214 yr Getting a steady 40 on ground just now, 50 in air with most settings on high and some on medium, so hopefully when more AI arrives with extra models and livery's that will take the extra performance. July 3, 20214 yr I will try to increase LOD to values higher than 200 through config files and I will look forward to the implementation of ray tracing. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
July 3, 20214 yr In all seriousness, DO NOT count on any framerate increase till it's actually present in a release version. Lots of things can (and will) happen to the beta before it's finalised. Edited July 3, 20214 yr by Matchstick
July 3, 20214 yr jokes aside, it will be fun to fly the heli at night time through big cities in VR with everything ultra and 90fps ( with openxr dev tools motion smoothing on) currently its almost there, just need a few more frames 👍 Edited July 3, 20214 yr by dogmanbird
July 3, 20214 yr I'm not expecting much. A few extra frames on short final at the big airports in the A32NX and CRJ would be nice.
July 3, 20214 yr I now use Vsync in sim with FPS set to 30 and have to run my screen@60Hz. (HATE 60Hz) The first thing i would like to do is set my screen to @120hz and set to 20 fps<<< its not 20fps ( its 1/3) it would be 40 FPS. I can run 40 FPS now with the DC6 but in some placers that drops to 35-36. I could try 144hz and that would give 48 FPS. I run LOD at 160, so I will set that back to 200 and hopefully never see a Frame below 40 FPS. TrackIR at 40 FPS is perfect. If it really is a huge boost I might target 60FPS but when I run 40FPS I see no reason to run anymore. 60 fps in games yes in MSFS 2020 not sure is needed. It will be fun to find out. come the day. It will be a nice probelm to have. Edited July 3, 20214 yr by Nyxx David Murden. July 3, 20214 yr I'm actually going to keep my settings the same as I am happy with them.. But I hope a performance increase allows me to enjoy the A32NX at least. I've found I get 20 ish FPS which is unacceptable to me, where I'd be enjoying a stable 30 with the default.
