July 3, 20214 yr I am going to initially leave my settings as is and fire up the DC-6 and FBW A32nx at JFK and see how things perform. If it is smooth flying near NYC then i am going to turn settings up as much as i can. I would like the freedom to fly anywhere without having to tweak my settings. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
July 3, 20214 yr I am not sure that this update will help me too much as I get a great performance currently with close to Ultra settings but need to have photogrammetry turned off. My biggest problem is internet access which is quite low at circa 8 - 10 Mbps during the evening time. If the update does help I shall be delighted. July 3, 20214 yr I'm hoping to squeeze more time out of my 4 year old PC and video card for now, at least until video card prices come down a bit. I'm still amazed how well my old PC can still handle the game (granted I don't touch the more complex airliners coming out). ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

July 3, 20214 yr I'm not gonna waste time on enjoying anything. I will right away crank those settings to Ultra and then just complain that I'm not seeing any FPS improvement!
July 3, 20214 yr Im already sitting in the 50's in the 320nx at 3440x1440p at stock ultra in the cockpit in the air and in the mid forties at the gate with a render scale of 110. I'm looking for improvements in heavily cpu bound phases of the flight (approach/finals in large metro airports) Thats when the rates tank to the low thirties mid twenties (worst case) and card utilization goes down. If they fix that then ill consider buying some addon airports i have my eye on and see if the sim will be able to handle increased ai traffic. I think everyone who flies glass cockpits or fly in heavy metro areas will see some improvement. I do not think any system is yet fully immune from being cpu limted flying into OHare/De Gaulle or Kennedy without the sim asking for its pound of flesh from the CPU mainthread. So if that gets fixed there will be some improvement in frames. However if your system is already top of the line and properly configured and the most you do is island hopping in fair weather in the Caribbean (NON VR).. well.. don't expect much lol Edited July 3, 20214 yr by Maxis AMD Ryzen 9800X3D/ Asus ROG Strix B650E F Gaming WiFi / Asrock Taichi 9070XT / 32GB G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 6000 / 2x ADATA XPG 8200 Pro NVME / Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 / Seasonic Vertex 1000w PSU / Lian Li LanCool II Mesh Performance / Asus VG34VQL3A / Topping E70 Velvet DAC & L70 Amp /Sennheiser HD660s2 Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke + TCA Sidestick + TFRP Rudders
July 3, 20214 yr I'm GPU bound so I don't expect to see much improvement but it'd be nice if I could increase my Terrain LOD back up a bit to where it used to be. Not sure what happened there really. I blame it on 'increased mesh resolution' | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.
July 3, 20214 yr Oh, I’ll probably squander it haha. Just kidding. I run at 4K on ultra and generally get 30-45 fps (sometimes down to high 20’s in the most demanding scenarios) but that is with scaling reduced, I think I’m at 70. Maybe I’ll up the scaling slightly, but I’ll try and resist the urge to do so and just enjoy the increased performance with my previous visuals. July 3, 20214 yr I'm really hoping to see my issues with stutters and pauses I am dealing with on approach and also while taxiing at airports. This issue started for me several updates ago (the one that changed the tree LOD...go figure). I lock at 30fps in Nvidia Control Panel. Vsync on 'Fast' also in NCP. My actual flights tend to be very smooth, the issues are all around airports and I have been unable to resolve it even with reduced settings, turning traffic off, etc. Prior to that update I was having a pleasantly smooth experience.....really not sure what changed... July 3, 20214 yr Just keep in mind what a 60 percent performance boost means in reality: 10 fps => 16 fps 15 fps => 24 fps 20 fps => 32 fps 30 fps => 48 fps 40 fps => 64 fps
