Well it's a step in the right direction and from the looks of it, some more performance gains are on the horizon once they implement this new xbox lod method. Quite unfortunate that they did this so late because it's a ton of work for the devs. Should have been enforced right from the start. But hey I will take those fps.

Funny to see that the #1 top wish on the feedback snapshot is a language localization. Seriously? There are way more things on that list that should be #1.

That request, along with the South Korean localisation and the Brazil World Update, were massively shared in external groups. If you check out these threads in the forums, they are full of new users posting for the first time (usually in their native language which is against the rules) just to say that they have voted and that they want this feature.

Considering that all these new users are unlikely to participate in the rest of the forum and place their votes on other requests too, unfortunately it's an abuse of the voting system, but the forum software is able to discern whenever external sources are the cause of mass participation. So I presume the developers are aware of which threads do not necessarily represent where these wishes stand among others in the community.

They were already planning to do a World Update pass over the entire planet until the end of 2022 and they have been adding new localisations recently so these requests were probably already on their radar, but unfortunately they do take up slots on the Feedback Snapshot that could be used to answer other feature requests.

This was already done before SU5 released.

That's why I'm afraid on what they're doing now

During beta testing, they reduced object LOD from 2 miles to 20 feet. We complained as loud as we could as this was unacceptable. They reverted it at the last minute.

Now I see it says it is temporary, which scares me.

Now I get what they want to do but for the PC version, the ship has been sailed. It will be insane to update all these add-ones to have the 4 LODs. The thing is, they mentioned it is "temporary" which scares me to the max. They are like saying "look third party developers, you got few months and then we will switch to the new systems". The thing is, there are some third party developers will update this but there are many as well wont even care about it as long they made their money.

I hope you guys keep complaining to stop Asobo from switching the LOD system in the PC version. Or at least give it a year and ask them to do some sort of validation when you compile project in the dev mode in case there less than 4 LODs

I agree with this as well. The word in that context that should warn people is "TEMPORARY". I definitely do not want the PC version to use the same stripped down LOD system as the X-Box consoles. That would be a major downgrade for us. PC and X-Box are not even in the same playing field. One has simple hardware config among each and every device, while the PC is much more complex due to the different hardware setups that each and everyone of us has.

PC needs it's own LOD system, because our systems or more complex.

Yup, that #1 wish on the feedback looks a little sus to me, and I really hope the moderators, developers and the people in charge of that forum are aware of it. Those sort of localization requests needs to be lower on the priority list.

So even the day one patch is delayed haha, when are we going to give them a little slack. Good news alround! 👏

It is not about the technical aspects either. It is about the practical aspect. Not every PC here is a super PC and even Xbox-X is more powerful than many PCs that people are using currently for MSFS and thus, I really see their point of enforcing the LODs to improve the performance which makes sense in reality.

The thing is, we are almost year from MSFS release and we have this boom of freeware and payware, introducing this system may potentially break thousands of freeware and payware. The question is in my head, why haven't they force the LODs from the beginning? Or maybe they thought about it later which is also fine? If that is the case, then they need to give developers plenty of time to do not only few months. And keep reminding the developers about the LOD and introduce a hard validation in the compiler for new projects.

So, nothing about fixing the disappearing mouse issue.  While all those fixes are nice, what's the point when I can't even fly with the mouse disappearing whenever I change views?  Think I'll park MSFS until that's fixed as it's no longer a pleasurable experience, just frustration on frustration.

"We have temporarily reverted the LOD selection mechanism to its previous state on PC"

i'm not sure what this means, but is this perhaps what made Randazzo/PMDG say they were surprised the performance increase was less than he saw in testing?

Not sure I understand what you mean... I would have thought if anything the LOD would be reduced on console's and that accidentally got carried forward to PC. If the PC had reduced performance than the beta - I would imagine that's something else.

You don't know what fixes were included here? Still might be fixed and remember it was mentioned in the patch notes I believe.

Oh yea, I take it back.  I hadn't translated that into 'fixed the disappearing mouse issue' but that looks like it might be fixed.  If so, I'll be a happy bunny.

With Dev Mode turned on, if the mouse disappears, you can move your mouse up as if you want to press something on the top of your screen , that will cause the Dev Mode toolbar to temporarily come up and the mouse will reappear as a temporary solution for now.

Hope those aren't the only freezing scenarios to be fixed because mine certainly happen without those conditions.
