, for me at least, the QLD Sunshine Coast is now blurred and out of focus - go figure, no idea why it should be different.

Any particular altitude you were at or was it blurry all the way down?   Just going for a spin there now.. will take a screenshot or two

EDIT.  Not going to bother with the screenshots.   After at least 40hr of post patch flying I finally see the blurry textures.   Buildings looked ok to me, but the underlying ortho was terrible!

I've done loads of the US, Most countries in western Europe, bits of Japan, the main cities in Aus and all over NZ.  Not seen textures like that anywhere on my travels since SU5

Really upset with SU5. The more I use it, the more I find other problems such as settings not being saved in various places, such as the world map, plane's configuration, graphic settings, and now they've taken away volumetric lighting as well. I had mixed feelings about SU5, but as of recently they're mostly negative.

So the real important question is:  is MS/A abandoning MSFS for Win 10 PC?  And to me the answer is clear:  absolutely not they would gain zero by doing this.  After all, the entire thing was developed and showcased on PC.  This is an expected hiccough completely due to the Xbox release.  I thinks odds are super strong they will retune for PC so for now I'm going to park it as it's lost its appeal for me now and I have been the staunchest apologist.  Last time I did this was after the relatively short period of severe FPS drops uncorrelated to GPU/CPU load when I flew P3D for a few weeks, then never went back.  My sense is it will be better than ever at a point in the hopefully not too distant future--I give it 2-6 months depending on how much they are still tuning for Xbox platform.  I'm glad I didn't uninstall P3D I enjoyed a flight in the NGXu where I was diverted (by FSCaptain) to land at KTVL as conditions were poor at KRNO.  It's a venerable sim as long as you don't try to make it good to look at because certainly 4.5 is just very hard on my CPU.  I have really downturned settings and fly in dim light and it's ultra smooth and of course the mature PMDG birds are great.

I'm not seeing what's so bad about the clouds
h0UYJqp.png1250410_20210801153530_1.png

For me, it's when I set it to LIVE WEATHER is when the clouds start to look bad. However, the clouds look decent to really nice depending on which preset I use. I believe it has something to do with their live weather system. Must be something on their end for the cause of this and possibly other numerous issues that we're seeing.

I really believe it's a temporary blip not to be taken too seriously.  I agree the cloud degredation is deep, though better w/ the Ultra tweak for sure, it's nowhere near as good as it was, and even then it needed some work still for sure.  There was serious lack of cloud morphology I always felt even before SU5 and now it's quite cartoonish, and you should never take cartoons too seriously :bengong:

well my two images are with live weather, so idk. I think I was running on High preset there.

I'm going back to FS9

I still fly an equal amount of flights in FS9, as I do in XP11 and MSFS. So, I never really left.

I noticed some settings aren't working the same since the update such as VFR waypoints are being added to flights even if I select direct flight in the world map and the airports last visited are not being saved in the World Map.  However I do get much better performance at the cost of poor LODs and some blurry textures on high.

Kind regards,

Tim

All that is missing now is for the 7%-club to stand by their words and drop out. It will make this a much nicer place.

So 85% of respondents are not having serious issues. The 15% minority sure are vocal.

It is a good thing they are vocal. Sadly, for me the sim turned from rock stable to completely unusable after SU5 + HF. Seeing it seems to be an issue for such a small amount of people makes me doubt if it'll ever get fixed.

On a vanilla mode (no addon, no external program, flightplan made with the game planner) ?

Slightly better performance and slightly worse graphic. Stable.  Not worth 60 GB of download.

Neuman a few days ago, just before the update release. He of course knew then that quality was degraded. Managing one’s user base with untrue hype is a dangerous game.

From day one, we decided that we couldn’t sacrifice quality. It needs to be completely intact and maybe even better. The good news is that it looks great and it plays in some ways better because there is so much optimization work that has been done.

The PC build that comes out next week will benefit as well from this, as performance is dramatically improved. I’m very happy that the transition has been completed and that the quality is great.
