Pole is a little negative leaning.  My vote would be, "Better framerates, same graphics, important features missing to accommodate the XBOX".

My main gripe with limited testing on my part is tool tips are missing showing things like your trim and other settings.  Now you either have to guess your trim or use the gauges/displays in planes that realistically show the settings on the gauge (not all aircraft do).  In the case of the WT G3000 you see the trim bar but have to guess your exact trim setting.  In the Milviz Corsair you have to round about guess 6 degrees of trim based on the gauge reading which is not obvious.  I'm all for realism but the option should still be there instead of overly intrusive XBOX user tips for obvious things like the throttle and flap handle.

Yeah it's fun trying to see the Kollsman window on the DC6 in order to set Altimeter.

I did. Stayed with FS9 for well over a year, while FSX was riddled with issues in the beginning.

Negative here, switched to FSX day of release (never went back), switched to Prepar3d v2 day of release (never went back, switched to MSFS day of release (never going back).  Guess I'm just a persistent old fart...

Maybe for you but FSX was a stuttering OOM crashfest (circle of death) for me. Something that never happend  as much in FS9

Yeah FSX was pretty much digital garbage for me too, After fighting with it for a year or two, I quit simming aircraft all together and got into Train  sims for awhile until P3D came along.

Yes, I would like to know what the tweaks are that compensate for the graphics.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

Better frames. Better ground/building textures (sharper)  Better fluidity.  No stutters.

More responsive controls.  I guess the one thread being hammered introduced latency to my controls i wasn't really aware of.  Now they are way more responsive.  Very noticeable in the Bell 47 for example which needs extremely precise control work.

Issues with clouds/lighting under certain circumstances ( Clouds issue caused by the lighting issue i suspect)

Crashed on my first flight after the SU5 due to the traffic bug.  Been rock solid since. .not a single CTD in game.   Does crash virtually every time exiting the sim though.

Overall, a few niggles. but it's a massive net positive here. Absolutely could not go back to SU4, and i was having a great time with that already.

Same here.

I agree with the rest of your post too.

Never had any of that stuff happen. Even with 32 bit VA limit, never had an OOM error. I think most people who did were doing 12 hour flights in and out of 3rd party airports in large cities in very complex 3rd party airliners like PMDG.

I didn’t do that kind of flying.

Those of you who say that now you have better graphics too after some tweaks... Can you list them?

A one hour flight in GA aircraft in the LA Orbx areas is usually all it took to get an OOM,

NO ONE has better graphics post SU5 that I've heard of.  But some who have learned Nyxx's finding to first load a flight, then go to Options and first choose Low-End rendering, apply, then choose Ultra, and apply again, then resume flight, find it's better than not doing this.  This must be done for each flight.  Asobo has been made aware of this and I'm sure they will fix this as it's very certainly an unintended bug and easy to fix for them.

Cloud quality has degraded significantly, lighting as well in some major ways despite Nyxx's tweak, so graphically it's still a serious downgrade.  And of course, anyone w/ high end hardware has the top 1/3 of their resources now parked on the sideline that could be used to deliver a better graphic experience.  No need to panic it's too early for this I feel I think despite the hysteria I think we will see this change in the coming months.  I think part of the context of this hysteria is that SU4 while not perfect was decent for sure.

On my system. setting LODs manually to around 400 and pushing render scaling up to 110% (just in case)  helped with most issues except for Clouds which remain razed.

With those settings, some of the graphics for me are actually better than SU4, tree draw for example.

I get around the truly awful anime cartoon clouds by turning off live weather and avoiding flying anywhere with a cloud preset enabled unless its dawn or dusk .

That said there is also a randomness to it, the scenery in New Zealand still looks amazing but, for me at least, the QLD Sunshine Coast is now blurred and out of focus - go figure, no idea why it should be different.

I found this was also the case for me with the ugly looking clouds. I am using the weather presets and clouds look much more realistic. It's the live weather clouds that I noticed were giving me those horrible looking clouds.

Yes, exactly this. I didn't spend $5000 on building a new PC just to have things taken away. I want it to make use of my hardware. I was absolutely upset to find out that my VRAM/SYSTEM RAM usage has been cut down dramatically. I built my system specifically to take advantage of MSFS. I didn't anticipate that they were going to make it for X-Box and then drag the PC users along with them. At least give the PC users options to take advantage of more powerful hardware. Really upset with SU5. The more I use it, the more I find other problems such as settings not being saved in various places, such as the world map, plane's configuration, graphic settings, and now they've taken away volumetric lighting as well. I had mixed feelings about SU5, but as of recently they're mostly negative.

I  have done about 6 or more flights on SU5, and I notice that the scenery now is just blah, compared to what it was with SU4. Find myself actually getting bored looking around, which has not been the case since I started flying MSFS over 6 months ago. If it stays this way, I am not sure what I am going to do.
