ATC. Can We Turn It Off, At Least For Now?

Featured Replies

Lots of bugs and the procedure and phraseology errors are driving me nuts. This is coming from a pilot and air traffic controller IRL.

Cant seem to make it go away.  Just like those stupid pushback jockeys that live on the ramp of my MSFS rendition of my local county airport.

Suggestions, Work Arounds, Etc are appreciated.

Thanks

I like having ATC on it gives me something to laugh at now and then.

What I've been doing:

When I reach my flight plan altitude, I turn off AI handling comm's, go to my radios, find a unused frequency and swap the radio over to that until I get to my ToD. The only setback is, you're no longer IFR and have to request flight following and when you get close enough, find you're airport in the Nearest Airport list and commence landing VFR style. I'm sure there's a way to get back on IFR but I haven't figured out how to do it in my TBM.

So I climb to my filed flight plan cruise alritude of 12000 ft as directed by ATC.. But then ATC suddenly instructs me to climb to 35000 ft! In a Bandeirante!! 😩 Panicking I request a 10000ft cruise altitude decrease thinking I may have filed it wrong. And ATC says "..climb to 35000ft, expect 12000ft". At which point it's game over.

It's nerfed.

Thanks to all for responding and especially to Richard who showed me how to “silence the noise”. At least for now.

Right now (besides everything else that's wrong with the ATC) the worst thing is the constant badgering to get up to altitude (just because the BP is broken).  I usually do the following:

  • As soon as I'm at cruise altitude, I cancel IFR
  • Then I request Flight Following - communications are fairly normal and there are no altitude requests
  • When I'm about 5 miles from my TOD I request a reinstatement of my original IFR flight plan
  • I make the normal descent, and am handed off to tower and shoot the approach

That works about 90% of the time.  However, this is what happened this morning:

  • After run-up I switched to tower for takeoff
  • NOTHING.  There was no selection for permission for takeoff
  • I took off without permission, then went to file in the air
  • NOTHING.  Instead, I was offered only a choice of request to transit Class C air space
  • With nothing else to choose, i selected it and was given permission
  • After that, a choice to air-file appeared
  • I refiled my IFR plan
  • As soon as my squawk was verified I was told to climb to FL340 (I was in the TBM with a cruise altitude in the plan of FL290)
  • I requested a descent of 5,000 ft. - this would normally give me an FL290 assignment
  • Instead, I was told to climb to FL430!
  • I went to request Flight Following
  • NOTHING.  The choice was now missing from the menu.  Cancel IFR was also missing.
  • ATC is now constantly yelling that I'm at the wrong altitude,
  • I go into options and turn the ATC voices off
  • I make the rest of the flight with no ATC and all goes well.

Most of the time (except for the current altitude bug) I'm able to work around any ATC issues, but today was pure hell.

I never turn atc on. waste of time.

I have turned off ATC and i am using pilot2ATC with Ivona voices, is the best decision you can make

I just go VFR and they usually leave me alone after that.
