There's WIFE FACTOR !

I solved that by letting her have 3 of our 6 bedrooms for quilting.  The sewing machines are sewing, the sim machines are simming, the espresso machine is brewing, and all is tranquil at Casa de Scott.

BTW, if you think an nVidia 3090 is expensive, go price a top-end Bernina quilting machine.

Dedicated simpc for me, four or five other PCs knocking around the house for various purposes. Simpc and main desktop share custom built L-shaped work area. Swivel to the left and there's the simpc with all the controls loose on the desk, swivel to the right and there's the desktop system.

I did treat myself to the Honeycomb yoke when I got the new PC, but I have to say I've never really taken to using a yoke. Probably because I've got my CH Pro throttle and stick so well set up for my requirements with all the various button assignations. One day I may get the yoke equally well set up but for now, it mostly sits on the shelf below the work surface.

I'd love to get a more purpose built setup for helis, but I don't relly have the room without completely re-doing everything. And I don't want to do that.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Do you mean this micro suction pad base? I didn't know it came with that until you mentioned it. https://youtu.be/y46lKT4GLdw?t=35

That's the one. ;)

My sim PC is also my primary development workstation (as well as being used for gaming), so I unfortunately need to make it comfortable to use for long periods of reading and typing during the day.   Rudder pedals stay hooked up on the floor under the desk, TQ stays hooked up but unmounted and is rested on the floor adjacent to the PC between flight sessions.   Alpha yoke is unplugged and stored alongside the TQ.    They are all (along with my XBox controller) connected to my PC through a USB hub with push-button disconnects that I keep tucked to a side of my desktop, so when I run into the occasional game that doesn't know how to deal with having 4 controllers with well over a dozen axes between them (or, say the Garmin trainer, which is the same) it's easy to disconnect everything and hook it all back up when needed.

I have a Moonlander keyboard (quite expensive, but I view it as a tool for my job, and a craftsman needs durable and comfortable tools) which comes in two detachable halves.   When I mount the yoke on the desk, the right half gets disconnected to make room and I have a special keymap on the left half that controls some sim functions, although most of what I need to control is placed on one of my two streamdecks or switches on the yoke and TQ.

It's not a bad setup, but sometimes at the end of a long day the effort it takes to mount my controllers still makes me go "nah, I'm just gonna read for a bit".  I'd love a dedicated sim rig at some point in the future, maybe when we remodel our basement and there's room for it.

Love reading all your replies and I've been here too in the past @kaosfere

I would love a dedicated sim rig with two screens where I can have everything ready to jump in and fly, what a luxury!

The two screens I got covered, at least.  😄   Main monitor is a 38" 3840x1600 ultrawide (basically 4k with the bottom 20% or so chopped off), and to my left I have a 33" full 4k screen.   I'd given up a smaller 21:9 monitor (a 34" 3440x1440 deal) for the 4k panel, then realized I really missed the extra width the ultrawide had, but I didn't really want to sacrifice all the increased resolution going back to it.   When I saw the 38"er I decided I had to have it.   At 144Hz with Gsync it works well for the rest of my gaming, too.

I have a dedicated setup for racing, but my flight simulator is not dedicated on another pc.

I have a dedicated system but my HOTAS is mounted to my CHAIR. 😜  (My monitor is wall mounted on a scissor mount and I have no desk)

What an amazing set up. I'm so happy for you that you have everything that you want to fly the virtual skies! I loved my VKB joystick and extension. It was one of my favourites.

Yes VKB is great I have their anti torque pedals as well for helis. HALL sensors are the best and smoothest, I wish every manufacturer would use them instead of potentiometers that wear out.

The lack of toe brakes was always something that I missed on the VKB's but the sensitivity was magnificent. I used to fly a lot of helis in DCS when I had more time for simming 🙂

I have a dedicated PC in my unfinished basement only for flight simming—mostly P3D v5, but also DCS (infrequently), and perhaps Elite Dangerous (very infrequently). Oh, and I also use my set-up for train simming as well. Anyway, I have a very old, wide and deep wooden desk, on which I keep the PC and other things … as you’ll see below.

For flight simming, I have a PFC Cirrus Saab yoke, which sits on top of the desk, and a curved 27” monitor sits on top of the yoke. The weight of the monitor keeps the yoke apparatus (which itself is already pretty heavy) in place quite nicely. On top of the monitor is my TrackIR.

In addition, I have a Thrustmaster HOTAS, with the throttle mounted on an old PC case to my left and the joystick on another old PC case to my right. I also have a Thrustmaster TCA sidestick, also mounted on an old PC case to my right as well. I use the yoke for aircraft with yokes, and the sidestick for FSLabs A319/A320/A321. I use the Thrustmaster HOTAS joystick for other aircraft with sticks. Of course, I can easily swap in and out between TCA sidestick and the HOTAS joystick. By the way, to keep the HOTAS and TCA sidestick in place, I used heavy-duty double-sided tape to affix each peripheral to the top of the PC cases I’ve used. It works perfectly. Surprising well, actually.

I have another monitor to the right of the yoke (as I mentioned, the desk is wide), and it’s also connected to the simming PC. I can use that monitor for displaying various programs that I use while simming, such as Aivlasoft EFB and Navigraph Charts, etc.

But wait … there’s more! 🙂 I have another desk (really, more a small table than a desk) 90 degrees to my right on which I have a 27” monitor connected to my MacBook Pro, which is for other uses while I sim. Since I mostly sim IFR with tubeliners, once I’ve taken off, there is only so much “flying” that I have to do, with rather long stretches of time with only contacting various centres to do, so I use my MacBook Pro for work (checking my Outlook mail, doing research, etc.) and for gadding about the web (YouTube, especially) for the time between climbing to cruising altitude and descending for landing.

I’ve developed and expanded upon my simming set-up over the years, and I realize that I’m  lucky to have the room to be able to put things where they are.

By the way, I’m wondering if this topic would be better off in “Hangar Chat”? Seems to be applicable to anyone flight simming on any platform. Just a thought …

Joel, that sounds like a fantastic set-up that you've built. I used to use Monstertech table mounts for my HOTAS that were really great as I could unclip them and hide them when needed but I love how you've used double sided tape to mount the throttles! what a cool idea!

With FSX my work PC was also my sim PC so I had to mount the yoke, throttle, etc everytime I flew, which was a pain since it was almost every day.

For 2020 I decided to buy a PC dedicated to only flying....bought it on Newegg, got the Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, kept the CH rudder pedals.... and now I hardly fly it.......$2500 dust collector!

@PIC007 Jay, I feel your pain! I have sold so many different set-ups over the years, thinking I am done with simming, thinking I don't have time because of my kids but I keep coming back! Do let me know if you want to sell your Honeycomb yoke one day as I might be able to give it a good home! Saying that, I've just gone and bought a Gladiator NXT Premium flightstick and the Just Flight Turbo Arrow (again) for a world tour!

PC dedicated to gaming, but Hotas, throttle quadrant and rudder are permanent.
