Don't you just love a good discussion, lol The point is, if there were addons in the community folder which could cause trouble after an update, they will do so even after you have renamed the folder during the update and restored the original name afterwards. Therefore remaning and emptying or whatever during the update has no effect whatsoever... Have the impression I'm talking to a brick wall though... September 8, 20214 yr I always uninstall it before patching... and after ... 🙄 Works miracles ! - No altitude problems; - No overall real weather quirks; - No LOD hiccups; - No ground physics bugs / limitations; Give it a try ! Ok, now super seriously. Each to their own. All is good after this WU for me and hopefully for you too. That’s what matters. How you get there is rather less important if you are happy with the route you followed. It is born of my OCD when installing software (or doing a major multi GB update) to always restart before diving in. Ohh ok, I understand. A kind of "flush the system" after installing the big updates!
September 8, 20214 yr My step one is always check AVsim + MS forums for any issues with that given update ; for me it saves time and frustration .
September 8, 20214 yr Skipping to end of thread. I have steam version I didn’t bother disabling the several 100GBs of Add one I have, as frankly I firmly believe this is folly so long as you have no duplicates. Example a third party airport and a WU contains a handcrafted same airport - I would disable the add on using linker tool. delete and renew rolling cache - this does seem to resolve many problems. Regarding steam version, step 2 should be within the Steam client imo - I don’t understand why step 1 and 2 is separated like this. I can understand why the world update is in the Marketplace though. You are misleading your fellow users, if you post or publish this.. Not sure what you are attempting to accomplish.. Steps 3 to 8 is all that should be required. 🙂 Suggest you remove steps 1 and 12 from your list. And in my experience, if you attempt step 2, MSFS will tell you that there is an update and will not start until you do step 3. Everyone is concerned about the possibility of encountering errors.. but this is of no help.. If you encounter problems after the update, steps 1 and 2 may help as troubleshooting steps. September 9, 20214 yr I wonder how long it will be before in order to update MSFS, you have to be running W11. ?
