Green Roads

Featured Replies

Any hope that the green roads will be fixed? Its starting to remind me of the FSX runway light POP issue that lasted longer than any president.

I am sure that Asobo is aware... there are many Bing issues yet to be worked out..

As of December 20,2021, my roads still have a green tint to them too. My taxiways and runways look normal, it is just the highways. I have played around with my Graphics settings, but nothing seems to help. Oh well, maybe next year.

It has nothing to do with your graphics settings. it's the actual satellite imagery.

Asobo would need to go in and replace all the sat imagery with imagery that hasn't been colour corrected.

This is correct.  When I dabbled with google maps mod (not recommended). the first thing I noticed is that all the roads were normal colors.  Not sure how it can be corrected when the issue is arising from the Bing maps.

@LouP "google maps mod (not recommended)"  Why not?  I'm not in MSFS2020 yet but had planned on doing this when my new PC build was completed.

You can try it, but it is invasive, and numerous folks have gotten themselves in trouble when MSFS shut down while in "Google mode" and would not start up again.  Save this mod for when you have everything working nicely and you are confident that you can recover from any mishaps.. 😉

My sim had crashed while using the mod and connection problems started after that, followed by sessions not launching, then the game not launching.  Also, the mod installs a user certificate (not you) on your system.  I almost ran into a complete windows re-install trying to clean everything up.  Do a search, I'm not alone.  But I still believe in a free world so feel free to forge ahead.  It does look great, but the "cost" was too much for me.

Before using the google maps app just make sure you create a link to the "hosts" file located in "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" and make a backup copy of the file. That's the file that gets changed while the app is running, but maybe not changed back at the end of the session if the app is stopped before closing MSFS.

I've been using the google maps addon for ages.  The roads are not green, the textures are clearer, the images are newer and it's caused no issues other than the fact that if you forget to turn it off before shutting down msfs, you have to delete the last 2 lines of the hosts file (msfs will add the correct 2 lines when you restart it).

I can't recommend this mod highly enough in most parts if the world.  The UK is much too green using Bing and much truer to real life with Google.

I agree, but everyone has different limits as to what they want to deal with.

I have used it and like the textures better than Bing, but I constantly get timeouts downloading the tiles.  I end up flying over partly downloaded textures.  Really annoying, wish I could solve this one.

They must be doing it, albeit slowly, as I notice less of it than at launch last year.

I've noticed that using Bijan's Terrain Mask kills the green somewhat.
