Widows 11

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm just asking if anyone has yet installed Windows 11 and if so what do you feel about it please?

I installed it yesterday and apart from a few graphics changes I'm quite underwhelde and I can't understand what all the fuss is about.

Best....  Phil

I personally haven't installed W11, and probably wont until W10 support expires in 2025 or later.

There's a busy and informative thread on W11 here ........

Good stuff is probably less visible, like HDR supported, direct storage, improved Wi-Fi etc.

I was considering installing it, but now I am holding short of the Ryzen problems...

Until MS and AMD find a fix I will not embark on XP11.

In fairness, I've not noticed any problems with my AMD setup with Win 11, I just generally feel underwhelmed with the new OS.

I never care about what you see on the surface its what's underneath that counts, every release of Windows becomes bloated over time and a new release streamlines that mess for the first 2 years anyways.

If you get it now you get the most out of it, if you get it in 2 or 3 years you get the bloated over time version of it. Windows 10 was the same, at its best in the first 2 years

+1    Windows 10 1803 was best Windows 10.

For what prevailing reason would I elect to do that?  I wish over the past 20+ years I had somehow captured the intensity of topics here from first adopters.  First adopters of OS, simulators, addons, hardware devices, etc.

I have orders from my physician to keep my blood pressure low.  Avoiding first adoption was the #1 item we settled on after discussion.....  He chuckled and adopted the same mantra for his medical practice.  And here 10 years later still clings to that!

If I can ever find a good reason to go to W11 I will. But I don't think that at my age there will ever be a good reason.

+1. Let's then with the same approach compare blood pressure readings from time to time...  LOL!  When MSFS 2024 comes out I'd bet you and I will both be flying a then finally mature MSFS 2020 for another two years beyond that release!  And logging more flight hours than most because we will be chasing fewer "tails"!

There will be a new set of tails to chase by then.

Also...I can't help myself, "Widows 11...indeed" I cackled when I read the thread title.  Win11 may make widows of some.  I usually am not a first adopter of anything.  I still have a flip phone from '06, but the phone is either wearing out, or it needs a new battery, so I may (gasp) have to get one of them new-fangled smart phones.

If you are old like me, you can get a "Jitterbug" flip phone with oversized number keypad!

I'm pushing 50...so I don't really consider myself old, but I do have to wear reading glasses now.

Big numbers would be a plus
