BAT-21 movie: those fine german Mercedes military trucks in the Viet Cong army. where did they get those from?

Norway or France would be a good guess.  Both gave generous financial support to North Viet Nam during the conflict.

This is a good overview and description of the C337 SkyMaster.  Cessna Skymaster - Aviation Consumer

The Multiengine rating was limited to "center line thrust twins" so it wasn't a very useful rating unless you happened to own a 337.  Personally, I have always liked this one.  My favorite one was the drab grey paint with the spinner removed and a couple of rockets and gatlin guns hanging under the wing.  I tried hard, but, failed to get a couple for the Civil Air Patrol on the Gulf Coast back in the day.  We did get a couple of Birddogs, O1A, stripped down and without radios.

Regards.

I think it was a mistake by the film crew, they took whatever trucks were available to them. "Norway or France would be a good guess.  " that would have been too obvious in the public image.

very nice.

after instructing on many over the years I always hated the single engine go rounds & logic would suggest the rear engine would work best - but in practice failing the front engine (I mean there reducing the thrust to idle) mean't a very very watchful instructor - I can assure you - interestingly the 336 as I recollect was nearly as fast as the 337 - the complexity of the gear retraction system & the added weight was the difference - I built a Glassair II with a freiend and have flown both the retractable & fixed gear models - in that case there was not as greater difference in speed between the two as you would expect

This is all very interesting.  Are there any notable pitch-up or pitch-down characteristics when increasing throttle on either the front or rear engine?

the bump mapping on the leather head rest simply is outstanding, Coronado-Carenado- they are the masters of pretty airplanes. these shots can easily be mistaken for photographs of the Cessna sales brochures. for me looks do count. who needs Lnav and Vnav when you can have such extreme graphics quality. 😊

I will give it a miss personally. I hoped after a long break there would be something other than a variation on a theme lol!!

I think I'll wait for the next one.  It looks good, though.

Looks like they are modelling an anti-ice system on it - I may consider getting it for FSE flying in cold climates then 🙂

It's got pretty much everything ya need for IFR or VFR.   You've got HSI, decent GPS (better once WT works their magic - I presume it'll support the pms GTN too), weather radar, really nice cockpit vis and surrounding visiblity.  And you're doing 160 KIAS and still in the green arc!  That's a 3 mile a minute aircraft once at cruise for true airspeed.

I suggest you open an history book, search for Dien Bien Phu for example, that would avoid you making weird statement such as France support the Viet Minh.

Seriously...

I lived the history for the period.  I worked in the Toulon ship yard on the Statfjord B offshore platform wellhead contract for 18 months. I never did get my work permit - they all went to North Vietnam.
