Some interesting places to fly here, one new one per week, especially if you are into history, geography, maps etc. Cheers.

What a coincidence, you share the same Christian name and both reside down under!

I use this site a lot to explore the world https://worldtour.flights/

Tried one of the flights and this is the landing at OJAQ ( King Hussein Intl. )  Jordan, at Dusk. Flew over the Dead Sea to get here.  spacer.png

After almost 30 years of flight simming, I realized this morning that there is so many places in the world I have never flown. I decided to plan a flight from GUCY to GGOV in Africa.  I have never flown in Africa, and wondered what it would look like. It looks great, and I bet I will spend a great deal of time flying from one airport to another. This is something I would have never done in any sim I have owned before.

I feel the same way....so may places in this world to visit.

When you're touring around in Africa Bob, don't miss a HTKJ to HKMO flight!   Here I am just out of HTKJ on an early morning departure...right by the mountain made famous by the great Toto song "Africa" 🙂

With MSFS....flying in this country is awesome.  The landmarks and landscapes are all there...and not some sim-generated tiles that repeat for miles, its the real scenery!

PS:  If you try to make it to the top in our trusty DC-6 turning directly out of HTKJ, you'll need to either be really light and give the superchargers a real workout.  I tried it with 9k lbs of fuel and 17k payload...was hugging the ground a few miles east of the peak as I crossed by it...had I tried to make it directly over the peak, I'd be a bug splat on the side of it, LOL.

Same 'problem' here. It's agonizing to have to chose ...🙂

Depends on what you are looking to do and it's hard to escape from the old flight plans.

Cheers

Being there, fly from Eilat to Sharm El Sheikh, you shouldn’t be disappointed. The Sinai Red Sea shores are gorgeous.

Hello,

from... to... was a frequent question to choose a flight, before I made this little tool on my site.

The choice can be personnalized about airport size, ILS at destination...

have a look at Idée de vol (an idea for a flight ?)

Texts are in French but easy to understand :

mandatory choices for FROM and TO countries
Be carefull, the runways length are in meters, not in feet
The check box ILS on arrival retricts the choice of the "TO" airports. Usefull for liners or night flights...

SAMPLE : How to obtain a random flight from MEXICO (country, not city) towards BRAZIL. Large airport (accepting liners) and ILS equiped ?

First choice

A possible flight
(distance in km)

Click on "Détails" button to open a new page (for instance on SBGP)

Details for SGBP airport

Translation of the text on right of the question mark :

To calculate the transition level, you will need the QNH
Open the weather frame if it is active and note the QNH then close the tab and click on "QUESTION MARK".

Happy flights

Flying this flight now. I am using the Seminole rather than the DC6, so no problem Climbing quickly enough.

I left my home base in Monroe,NC to fly to the west coast.  Flying the Cessna 172 at lower altitudes to enjoy the scenery.  Making short runs (15 airports so far) ILS where available.  I'm in Tucson, AZ now and headed for Phoenix tomorrow.  After San Diego I plan to go up the coast to Seattle then back across through a northern route.  Live weather.  Very bad weather in west Texas this week.  My first encounter with wind.

I didn't know New Mexico had any mountains. So learning a lot about our country. When I left my landings were the kangaroo style.  I have greased the last three. So learning as I go. Getting ready to move up to Robert Young's new Bonanza.  Hopefully by the time I get back home I'll be able to fly these things.Taking it one step at a time.
