Have you noticed any performance hits?

If you disable all the roads and use it just for the other aspects it provides you should be okay.

No cannot say I have noticed any performance hit with Vector but there are some tiling or texture join issues here and there about the place. nothing major just off putting now and then.

B777ER thanks for the tip, I am acutally uninstalling both Global and Global Vector and repairing the original LM scenery installation so I can do a valid comparison vis a vis landscape etc. Just turning off the roads with Vector left empty green spaces where there used to be roads for me.

I use Orbx OpenLC as well. The roads in Vector I have found cause stuttering.

Well did a fair bit of comparison of stock LM LC etc without ORBX (Global or Vector). Hard test as I have so much other ORBX scenery LC etc so difficult to get a comparison. I can now see no reason to retain or keep using Vector so that is now removed why I cannot see it now adds anything to the sim really, roads, highways and the general look is much improved without it. I put Global back in simply because it still seems to be just that much better overall visually, especially in out of the way places around the globe. I have also upped the density level for scenery and autogen etc to near max with the P3D sliders and have no glitches or performance stutters, That also improves the overall look or ambience.

As far as I could tell there were no significant coastline errors or similar ground shape issues so I can not see any reason now to keep using Vector.  I am getting an annoying white line break here and there where the scenery files do not join properly why that is I can only assume is a mesh issue between ORBX LC files and LM's terrain. I guess I will sit with this arrangement for the foreseeable future.

I'm sorry for the confusion fluffyflops, could you post a link to the discussion about 900mb orbx file, I'd like to see the context. And for that ORBX26210.bgl.zip file that you kindly shared as well, I don't even know where to drop it to.

Thanks again.

There seems to be some confusion with the OBX26210.bgl fix being a ORBX file and related to ORBX being the issue. The fix has nothing to do with ORBX. The file in question is the P3D5.3 default obx26210.bgl file which is over 900MBs in size and should be about 7.6MBs in size. please note OBX26210.bgl and not ORBX26210.BGL

Uninstalled vector in 5.3 due to extremely long loading time.

Coastlines were my primary reason for Vector, but having the Open LC's for NA, Europe, SA, Africa and Australia V2, I haven't seen a reason for the extra space, cpu cycles and load time. So I removed it from my V5 install. It served me well from V3 to now but I can now retire it.

Does open LC adjust coastlines and  rivers?

Never mind, answered my own question. Follow up question; those of you that removed vector, did you see a reduction in VRAM usage? I might consider inaccurate shorelines as a trade off if I can free up a little more VRAM from my RTX2080.

It's about the same for me... Most of the time VRAM is not an issue for me on a 2060. 😉
