December 5, 20214 yr You guys using it? Happy or not? I had it installed in V4, but never in V5. I could have sworn I read people were having performance issues. December 5, 20214 yr Hasn't been worth the trouble since V5 came out with updated vector data. It's just one more hassle and the devs stopped patching it so it's just gotten worse over time.
December 5, 20214 yr I tried ORBX Vector in P3D 5.2 for a while but quickly decided to remove it because the updated default data that comes with P3D v5 is good enough and more recent. Vector was better at depicting the shorelines and provided some highway "skirts", but those are not features I really care about, so uninstalled Vector. December 5, 20214 yr It depends where you fly. I mainly fly in Western and northern Canada and there are still issues with the default vector including water body elevation issues and missing major rivers. I did try it in 5.3 briefly and it seems to work ok, but going back to 5.2 for awhile. John C. But maybe I'm wrong. I've heard there's proformance issues, my mate had to remove some orbxs stuff, I'll ask him today what the issue was as he's a very very tech savvy guy. I'm holding off on this very reason
December 6, 20214 yr I use it out of force of habit with my recently installed 5.3 , it is good to hear comments on the pro’s and con’s of it .
December 6, 20214 yr I stopped using it in v5 due to bugginess in certain areas, there was a bit of dodgy scenery near Clacton in the UK that always caused nasty freezes (albeit temporary, mercifully) when I used it in V4. If there is a noticable improvement compared to the v5 vector data I may reinstall it and remove the offending files that cause the Clacton freezes. Though I also remember there being black holes around parts of the Western US, not sure if that will be fixed If I install in v5. PUT In the UK. AMD Ryzen 5 5600x & Radeon RX6700XT. Prepar3Dv5 @1080p
December 6, 20214 yr did LM fix the issues over canada with bad vector data ( that orbx vector fixed) if they did, then i wont install orbx vector then. thanks

December 6, 20214 yr So.... OrbX Vector is still necessary outside the US. 13600KF - AIO - 32GB DDR4 - RTX4070 - UW1440p GSync - USB DAC - 2TB NVMe - Windows 11 Pro - Gladiator NXT EVO - 1 Gbps Fiber - MSFS 2024
December 6, 20214 yr I stopped using it in P3Dv5 because 1)the stock vector data is pretty darn good, and 2)the extra vector scenery data was causing significantly longer load times and map updated times. December 9, 20214 yr Fluffyflops mentioned a fix for ORBX's Vector, I couldn't find anything relevant though by googling. Anybody? Thanks.
December 9, 20214 yr I reinstalled Vector even though it has not been updated for awhile. The issue is that yes for some parts of the globe LM have updated cartographical data but it is not a complete makeover. This is particularly the case if you fly the Pacific. The default LM coastlines are still outdated and in some places whole islands are just missing from the scenery. The countries of Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Kiribati are good examples. The default eastern coast line of the main island of Fiji is completely wrong, the Island of Samarai is completely missing in PNG (This is a sizeable and well habited island, this used to be the capital of PNG before it became Port Moresby in the 1950s) the same for Kiribati and many other places. I pay particular attention to these coastline issues because I do a lot of flying boat sim flying and hence accurate bays, rivers and coastlines are essential especially for my custom made add on scenery. So I have put back in Vector if only for that reason! Not sure whether it will be updated by ORBX but LM certainly have lots right but still a lot wrong or missing.
