December 16, 20214 yr Sounds interesting , havent had it since the FSX days , anyone with external hardware like EFB,tablets and CP flight? Is this supported? I use a CDUII with NGXU at the moment as well. Might pick this up anyway. Michael Moe Edited December 16, 20214 yr by Michael Moe Michael Moe
December 16, 20214 yr Yeah, I just bought a cockpit master CDU. right now it's not supported. That could also be a barrier for me since I can use it with the pmdg 737/777/747 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

Just got it and started playing around with it. I like it a lot so far. Build quality seems good. The setup was amazingly simple. Run the program then start the sim. That's it. It plays nice with the 737/747/777. I'd really like to see Maddog support and possibly CS767 added seeing they are similar in the real plane. But not sure it will be done. I also have the skalarki for airbus flying. I find this one more enjoyable to push the buttons. Has more of a spring like feel. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
December 17, 20214 yr First complete flight with the iFly 737-800 went well. (Cape Town FACT to Durban FALE, which is not the tutorial--that's in Australia--but was the route loaded into their special little app that I haven't looked into yet). A manual landing was fine. (Didn't try out an automated one, but probably safe to assume that works.) I thought LNAV and VNAV worked as expected, and I didn't notice anything weird. There is a small but decent distribution of -800 liveries for different parts of the world and major carriers: GOL, Ryanair, LOT, American, Delta, Southwest, Westjet a couple of South African and a few more. No Australian ones. which is a little disappointing. Not a lot at this point, and one of the things I do worry about in P3D is whether the old reliable cadre of good painters is going to keep producing the same number of liveries. The Captain Sim community used to generate hundreds, for example, but that's no longer the case. But iFly's 737NG is brand new, so I wouldn't be concerned yet. Don't' know why there are no 900 liveries. Personally, I could take or leave the 900 (it's starting to not look all that 737-ish to me, but I'm a Guppy fan). But you're paying for it, and a lot of people are going to want liveries for it. Night lighting is nice with smooth variability and external lights look realistic to me and don't interfere with cockpit lighting. The red parking brake light glows onto the throttle lever which I thought was a nice touch. Can't say I have any comment one way or another with the fonts: they look fine to me. FPS ran very close to locked 40 and I didn't notice any excessive CPU or Graphics usage on my computer. It's not Aerosoft's Airbus, for example, which takes some special handling. It is a very clean airplane, looking brand new. Not perfect for my taste, but hard to complain about. I have other old battered war horses to tickle my aesthetic sensibilities. It's the most solid airplane I've bought in a while. I put up with some rough edges for my classic fleet, and feel pretty spoiled by this one. Now, I like the Captain Sim 737-300/500, but this is much better quality. I only bring it up because that's the only other remotely similar airplane I fly besides Aerosoft's Airbus, to which I also threw out a couple of comparisons. It's been too long since I've flown the Leonardo Maddog to compare, but I think that one sets the standard. Nonetheless, I will be flying the iFly 738 while the Maddog sits in my hanger, and not because there's anything wrong with it. Just right now it doesn't tick my boxes, or maybe has more boxes than I'm interested in ticking! By the way, you can pick up the button control FS2Crew for it on sale until Christmas Eve really cheap at SimMarket, which I did. I had it back in FSX and it was fun. GSX is configured, which one would expect, but since it is not always so, I thought I'd mention it. Livery manager will not be unfamiliar to previous users and it's very easy to add a livery, and then you can go through page after page to configure all the options. I haven't cracked a manual yet, so I'm just going on Boeing memory here, and looking forward to getting deeper into it. It has failures, too, but I can't say anything about that yet. I tried out the HUD and no matter what I set it on, the information lacked contrast to read. Unless there's a way to make it darker, I'm just going to have to work with the overall lighting to get the sky a little darker. No big deal. Once again, very happy with the purchase, although following the Airbus buys I'm failing the purity test for a classic jetliner aficionado. I think iFly can be proud of their P3D product.

I notice on Flight1's website that they list the following concerning lighting for the 737NG etc: For correct visuals the following settings in P3D must be enabled: Enhanced Atmospherics (TrueSky) Dynamic Lighting Dynamic Reflections Internal Vehicle Cast & Receive Shadows Can you comment on the difference between EA on and EA off in v5.3? Any major difference there to be seen? I have briefly tried EA in v5.3 and it appeared to be way better than the previous version I had installed (v5.1 HF1). I dont have this aircraft yet but am seriously considering a Christmas purchase. [New] This is a very nice tool! (he says with some bias). 😄 Upon opening, it hits the Flight1 upload library and quickly lists all the liveries available. You'll see 2 new ones (and a -900 to boot) from fellow great painter (Ric) at the top of the list...and when installed and rocketing out of KLAX for a short hop to KLAS...looks something like this: The tool could not be simpler...you click the livery you want and click install...done. No playing with aircraft.cfgs, and you don't even have to go into the cool iFly cfg tool to set it up if you don't want to...it just applies the default config if you don't want to play with all the neat config items you can setup for each livery if you'd like. No clues on my next paint.....I may be taking a short break after releasing Ryanair to try and shake this crud that has infected me (not COVID)...we'll see. I'm hoping my next paint will unite all simmers and make flying the virtual skies....friendlier. I'll be doing Delta as well, and probably a few others. Like you mentioned, I'm struggling to recruit my fellow painters and I can only paint so much....if you can find a way to extend the day to 37 hours, I'll get more done, hehe. ..."It is a very clean airplane, looking brand new." We made a decision that based on time constraints, I'd do clean liveries 1st....then start adding "in-service" variations. Painting dirt is harder than one would think...to get it looking realistic...like this: Great review BTW Tim....I'm glad you're enjoying her. Hehe...thanks....let's just say...if you've ever seen the movie "Crossroads" with Ralph Macchio<sp?> and Steve Vai...I may have to do some final awesome paints to break my contract...with...you know. LOL. (Fantastic movie BTW....highly recommend, esp. if you like guitars) Regarding S7 and Mango, like Spirit Airlines here in the US....No pilot could ever fill out an incident report if they bumped into one of these liveries and claim "I didn't see it". They'd get laughed out of the inquiry for sure! 🤣 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

Jannie is in South Africa, the iFly devs are in China, I'm in the US. Jannie works 27 hours a day on this (at least in my estimation, hehe), and things like this can slip based on time zone differences. 😉 (i.e. we sometimes forget that what should be in the next 30 mins in reference to our local time zone, the guys who can fix it may still be sleeping, LOL). Not an excuse by any means, just food for thought. Not to mention that sometimes we think something is a 30 min fix turns out to be much more upon closer investigation. Can't tell you how many times I thought I was "30 mins" from being done with a paint...then...hehe Ryanair was a perfect example. Literally thought I was almost done last week...just a few touchups, even created the thumbnail (last thing I do along with the reg plate in the cockpit). Then when doing the final inspection flight, noticed a "few" things. Wound up totally re-doing the lower blue, tweaked the winglets...and I just realized that I actually uploaded a version that has messed-up window blanks! Sorry guys...will fix that asap and get her re-uploaded. (sigh....getting sick again didn't help, I saw the window blanks issue, said I'd get to it....got wrapped up in new winglets, and forgot about it, LOL) Edited December 17, 20214 yr by Steve Dra grammar Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
