This is a flight sim weather system, not your Google drive or anything actually super important like that. Also isn’t it only effecting the Beta? A majority of people probably aren’t even using it. First of all the issue affects everyone, not only people using beta. Second but not less important, I gave them money to have servers working all the time: I can accept few hours outage, not days or weeks of outage. That's a joke. Finally, you are right: let's not disrupt their deserved holidays, after they've produced the wonderful SU7, they deserve some rest.

That's a joke. Wow so entitled. I bought the same product as you. Stuff happens. That’s life. Uptime is never 100% guaranteed. If this was happening for more than a week I’d agree with you. But it started on the Saturday after New Year’s Eve. It has been only 2 days, most of which was the weekend. Have some patience. Side note, For all we know it’s not even an Asobo problem but their provider. Use a free alternative, like Unreal Weather, while waiting. Edited January 3, 20224 yr by Tuskin38

The Microsoft Azure Cloud and the servers infrastructure people were on holidays ? Meteo Blue people were on holidays ? These services are 365/24/7 and MSFS is intimately linked to them. We know by our sorry experience over the months that there is a "weak link" at Microsoft regarding the servers catering to MSFS. Organizational problem or quality of personnel or both, difficult to say The namby-pamby teaching of patience to users will certainly not help MS understand the users discontentment and then lead to any improvement. I'm not using MSFS after SU6 apart from some tests, because of other major problems, so I'll continue not to use it. The weather is just the latest big issue.

January 3, 20224 yr The reality is, lots of people have to work or be on call over holidays, and I’m not just talking about the obvious medical professionals, emergency services etc. I don’t think there are a lot of public facing services that just throw their hands up and accept that they’re out of commission for several days just because it’s a holiday season (for a large part but not all of the world I might add). The lack of communication is also frustrating…simply posting a single tweet/forum post about this acknowledging the issue with no further information, updates, timelines, isn’t all that useful, and certainly isn’t good customer service. Certainly points towards no action being taken. It begs that question of what happened. Was it a server issue, something that should reasonably have a back up plan in place to ensure continuity of service? Do they just not have contingency plans in place for a server outage over a holiday? Because they should. Or did someone change something that messed it all up? If so why? Why in the environment that impacts end users and why right before a holiday? I get that some people on this forum think people with views like mine are being impatient, need to chill or whatever and fair enough, we’re all entitled to our views. But the reality is a lot of us are on vacation right now, we’re looking forward to flying and I don’t think such a Mickey Mouse response from Microsoft should be acceptable to any of us. Maybe some small, two person indie dev but not a behemoth like Microsoft. I flew with Rex last night and it was passable for a local GA flight, but certainly no replacement for the built in weather. January 3, 20224 yr I think the graphics are revolutionary. But that was about it. I especially miss customer service at Microsoft. That is already a form of arrogance. I am seriously considering going back to P3D. Maybe Lockheed will bring the satellite image for P3d in the future. Maybe even from Google.

Even for public services, those are probably more critical services where they are on call. To be fair, this is a game (I consider XP and P3D as games too, for the home consumer market). And you can still use the game without the live weather, and you can set your own preset weather. Or in the worst case, use a 3rd party weather app like Rex. It's possible whoever is responsible for fixing this is on a holiday over Christmas and New Years. It's also possible they looked at the problem and it's not an easy fix that one person can do (ie. reboot the weather server or service), so they decided not to call in the entire team that can fix this, over the holidays. We all hope it should be fixed soon, so give them a few more days, for something that is not mission critical and is not an emergency service (ie. it's a game). i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

Since very early they announced their rough sim update and world update schedules it started being very clear this was a work in progress. The writing has been plastered all over the wall since the very first updates. On 1/2/2022 at 2:12 PM, MDFlier said: Uh, I have to take issue with this. When MSFS was announced, ... Perhaps I need to make clear again what I mean by WIP even though I think I included that quite clearly in my OP. It's clear that it's a project advertised for the long run and so will come updates. Those however should build on the existing working software to expand. What's happening now is that it's not solely a WIP with regards to expansion of features, but simultaneously is has become a WIP to fix things that were broken at release or, worse, that have been broken after release by the updates. The on-going struggles with live weather and some other things that were advertised are clearly not disclosed to anyone buying the product, so if they pull the trigger only to realize the weather, as an example, isn't working right that disappointment is not on the user.
