Snow Covering

Featured Replies

The snow covering at airports makes it difficult to taxi.  I can't see the taxi lines nor the edges of the taxiway.  Night time is like Ray Charles trying to taxi.  Is this normal?

My "workaround" for this is to use the taxi ribbon assist.  I also use the mod (can be found on flightsim.to) that makes the taxi assist arrows much smaller than default so it does not kill the immersion of taxiing around the airport.

The workaround is to take care of it in the simulator itself!  Was not there like this in previous simulators or their separate development branches.

You can't make out the taxi lines, or lights?

It seems worse at the default airports.  Landed at CYUL last night and once off the runway, had to turn the clock back to day light and clear weather to see where I'm going.  The field was all white, no taxi lites no green center lites.

Agree. I solved it by only flying to places with no snow.

I just landed at PAMR, Merrill Field in Anchorage, Alaska, and I see the taxi ways as I usually do.

That’s certainly not how it looks at any airports I flew to this weekend. Totally white with no pavement visible.

I don't see that at PAMR. Taxi lines disappear under the snow on the default airport. I can make out the taxi lights but Asobo puts those everywhere. What's your secret?

I wonder if it is Zinertek which I have had since it came out.

Could be. I don't see anything specifically mentioned regarding taxi lines in snow and none of the pictures were taken after a snow. $15.00+, I'll wait for a sale.

I use the REX airport enhancement but still have plenty of snow on my local runway at Priest River 1S6 using Live WX .

Same here, Can make anything out when there is snow on the ground..

 Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.

If you have Bijan's 4 Season pack, v7.00+, there is an option called "Snow Mask" which removes snow cover from runways and taxiways, as well as surrounding roads.
