Attractive women (insert your own preference here) to avsimmer sitting next to her: so, what do you for fun?

Avsimmer: I am hardcore flightsimmer!

Result: she's out the door so fast, she'd make Usain Bolt jealous.

Don't leave female simmers out of it!

My partner isn't into flightsim, but he is a gamer, he doesn't give a word not allowed as long as I can affort the stuff I buy... Nerd relationships are the best 😄

A challenge but oh so nice to go

that's the easy approach.

If you want to test your pixel pilot skills, go for the VPT RWY 20.

I did not express myself very well as I fly the complete circle to land approach by hand.

Coming in at 3000 ft I descend to 870 ft at Point C and then to land on rw 20.

Four years ago when I did the approach for the first time I had the arc programmed and changed the altitude by hand ( sneaky flying 😇 ).
Afer multiple times I now do it all with the AP off.

They know that X-Box users of MSFS are very casual and will get bored of MSFS after a few months.

You don't know this. What if Microsoft doesn't believe the xbox was intended just for casual gamers? That would mean they would develop the Xbox to run eveything the PC runs, including a study level sim regardless of platform.

Kind regards,

Tim

So you are the the one at Avsim who seems to know what others  think and decide what they write is pointless or not ..?

Didn’t know that Avsim is all about you …

Never said it was, nor that I know what others think.   But I can totally point out when peoples' arguments are vacuous, and I have.

I think we're done here.  Cheers!

I tried this and I do get a pop-up but no Ignore option, any help appreciated (Didnt think it warranted starting a thread)

That's a very good question.   If you're trying to block the same person I just tried to, it's not working for me either, for some reason.  Most users it's right there, using you as an example:

firefox-av4x-CQhats.png

But for some reason, this individual doesn't present me that option, which is unfortunate.   I know you can't block moderators, but this one doesn't seem to be.

Oh well.  There's always the mental block list.  It takes a bit more mental discipline to ignore the irritation that way, and it's unfortunate that it won't hide all the space that gets wasted, but it's good practice for life.

Can a Hardcore forum user help out a simple guy, there's a post here I hoped would help that says

" mouse over their name in the upper-left corner of the offending forum post.   A popup window will appear, and in the middle of the bottom line there's an option to "ignore Wankers "  Click on that, and you will have "plonked" him."

I tried this and I do get a pop-up but no Ignore option, any help appreciated (Didnt think it warranted starting a thread)

Tried it the manual way and sure enough.

Interesting...🤔

Curious.    Probably not worth a moderator's time to look into why that may be, but it does seem to be an item of interest to multiple people. 😄

I'm pretty sure it's just an error of some sort...users with even older accounts and more posts can be ignored.

So I don't think it's some sort of special account age/posts perk.

There's another possibility for this but I'm not gonna go there because it isn't any of our business if so honestly, even though it would be pretty foul and unfair overall if true.

Judging by the history of this thread in particular.🙃

Yes, most of the time the systems modelling is done outside of the core sim, but I would prefer that some basic systems get integrated and coherently modelled in the core simulation engine.

These might include the electric / hydraulic / pneumatic systems that can be used in various types of aircraft, engine systems as a whole for the various types like reciprocating, tuboprop, jet, ...

Probe systems, like those used with various types of aircraft instruments and sophisticated devices should also preferably be modelled right from the core simulation engine IMO...

Etc...

I completely agree with that, default systems should definitely be more comprehensive. My point was just that X-Plane is not much better in that regard, at least it is still not good for more complex aircraft. It is better than other alternatives though, that's for sure.

I still hope for graphical block-diagram-based default systems one day, something like Simulink. Such a thing would allow for developing arbitrarily complex systems while still being intuitive.

PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM.

Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.

Yep, but the payment is in admiration... Ever experienced it about something ?

Guy, whoever you come from... I've been playing sims for quite a long time, am not tied to any particular platform or developer, and the thread is being turned into a more abstract concept of "hardcore simming" than about a specific flight simulation platform.

I have used a few highly detailled flight simulators, of which so far the more detailled and complex / complete ( civil flight simulation ) was, by far, Aerowinx PSX. I had Aerowinx PS1, which I actually used in the nineties with fs9 for the visuals. I also tried PSX with MFS for the same purpose because a complex / detailled / superb as in PSX simulation of a Boeing 744 isn't yet available for MFS. I can praise PSX as much as I can IL-2 for some specific details, fsx, P3d, MFS, X-Plane, Flight Gear, ... for other...

Do you think one is not able to like / talk about / show the beauty of a Lamborghini Aventador because one desn't own one ? Or admire a nice chica because one doesn't date her ?

I don't know if you can get the idea... but at least I tried ...

I was about to say that - one really does not need to have the aircraft to admire the work went into it. I have purchased the Challenger 650 almost the day it was released, but never had a chance to fly it due to my development responsibilities (of course talking about ES) and neverending exams. However even seeing the "debug" screens alone gives insight on how complex its systems are.

Both theories somehow makes the assumption that Xbox players are lesser simmer than you/we are, and that they dont care about realism. Dont know where that premise comes from, actually, i do, its a basic stereotype. I interact with Xbox customers very often, and more often than not, they are way, WAY more knowledgeable than i am regarding aviation stuff. Plus, the Xbox is basically a disguised Windows PC. So wheter MS/Asobo favors the Pc or the Xbox, doesnt make a difference to me.

Well said. Console gamers are important to MSFS, as important as the PC "hardcore" "study level" gamers. Many forget that the XB is like you said pretty much a Windows PC of sorts. Its a great machine and looks fantastic on a big screen in the living room where it normally resides. If you have a projector its even more fun! You can be as "serious" or as casual as you want - same like on PC.

There are no such definable groups of people as Casual and Hardcore simmers. It's a fallacy to think there are. That kind of thinking says more about fragile egos than it does about rational thinking. IMO

We are all on a spectrum.

Totally agree with you. Such things (along with bashing other sims) only serve to make divisions amongst us - an already extremely small niche group when it comes to gaming. Lets all enjoy being pretend pilot on the platform of our choice (or even multiple platforms) and just have fun 🙂
