End of SU8 Beta Update - New Build

Hello Beta Testers,

Thank you so much for working with our team to test the Sim Update 8 Beta. As you have seen from the builds released during this period, you truly helped us improve Sim Update 8 and your feedback matters greatly. We have a final update for you before the close of this Beta.

Later today, one more build will be released for the Sim Update 8 Beta. We discovered that build 1.23.11.0 had an issue with FLT file cloud saves where saving to the cloud would either fail or only work once, and further saves would fail or overwrite previous saves. This issue has been fixed, so FLT files save to the cloud should work and roam without issue. We would love your confirmation that this issue is resolved and working as intended when the new build is released.

This build will likely be the release candidate for Monday. That being said, we will leave the #simupdate8flight:discussion category open for you to report or comment on this final build in regard to the above issue, and will be moving the other categories to Read-only at this time. We are still processing all remaining feedback you’ve reported over the past several weeks and they will be prioritized and actioned in future builds.

Thank you for your time and efforts during the Beta,

MSFS Team

My best version of MFS so far.

- Stable

- Fluid

- Weather looks better

- not SU8 Beta related, but I LOVE that FBW A320 flying now even VNAV  !!!

Loving it, but you can probably wait just a little bit longer for the final release.

Next will be SU 9 !!! Really looking fwd into it and the announced updates to the FDM.

How has the WX improved? Accuracy, looks, performance ?

I jumped in the beta quite late and unfortunately I did have much time to fly. If I had known beforehand I would not have joined the beta since I haven't been able to contribute or comment.

From the few flights I had, the weather has improved. Accuracy is good, more importantly I haven't experienced any sudden weather changes. Clouds look a little better close up, and coverage is a bit better a well.

SU8 beta (soon to be formal SU8 update on Monday), is definitely the best version I have tested up to now - I have had no major issues with it.
I have not had one CTD after clearing the odd incompatible addon out of my community folder, and I have completed some 3 and a half hour flights / tours without any issues or slow down - I have struggled to achieve this kind or reliability / durability before.

It is all going in the right direction, even if it isn't moving fast enough for some of us, but this beta is turning out to be good for the simple reason that they are actually responding to the testers feedback, and correcting the beta (more than once) before the release.

I was critical in the past, but well done to MS / Asobo for changing to this system.  I know they don't always target the things we expect, but this new beta system is turning out to be successful in general, and certainly a better process than we have had in the past.

I don't think I have seen any weather improvement over the prior version but not sure this was being targeted for SU8. I still see towering cumulus everywhere with Live WX. I am also getting 'popcorn clouds' (remember those from FSX??) everywhere when clear skies are reported.  Numerous other reports of the same thing on thread I started over on the official forums.

I don't see TCu that much as before, and indeed the various flights I completed in the Mighty!!! FBW A320, one lasting 5,5hr, presented me with consistent weather effects and depiction, with the exception of what I consider to be a little overdone turbulence over some mountainous regions even cruising at FL380.

I refer to METAR, SIGMET and model data I have professional access to ( ECMWF + UK-MetOffice ). Overall a very good match, surely better than before, and already a good merge between local ( METAR ) and aloft ( MODEL ) weather.

I also haven't seen any weather improvements. Let me be clear. That's LIVE WX. In fact, I think it is the most 'stale' it's been in a long time. No variety, overcast is still never represented accurately. There are always gaps and get above it, and its towering CU. No thin layers. Popcorn clouds. Instant wind and cloud transitions. Absolutely no gusts or cloud turbulence.

Interested to hear how tobii Eye Tracker 5 is working as regards 6DoF with the latest build, if anyone who has one and is engaged in the beta can comment, please and thank you.

It's pretty decent now - you HAVE to use the F12 key a couple of times to reset the view when starting the flight and that only works if you are using the default keyboard profile (or I'm guessing a custom profile based on the current default)  and the lateral movement axis are based on your default cockpit position not the way you are actually looking which makes it weird trying to adjust position looking out of the side windows, but it does the job.

I'd love to know how everything is performing in VR.  If anyone has a headset and is testing how's the performance and are there any improvements in other areas?

Clouds are far better, i have not seen any graining for a few weeks now, turbulence seems improved as well. Over cast skies are far better than before. And the general weather is matching what i am seeing during flight.
