SU9 Beta Testers Beware

I won't even turn fs2020 on until a fix is out.

Seems to corrupt flight hours, settings as well as other issues.

It's also turned my sim into a stuttery mess.  From 30FPS pretty much everywhere, to struggling at 22, 23 at the quietest airports in the default aircraft. My first and last beta, although I'm really worried things are going to be nerfed for the final release.

Thanks for the heads up.

Intel Core i5-12600k, Nvidia RTX 4070 Super, 128 Gigs.

they really have some severe quality project management issues.

Lost all my addons and had to reinstall msfs as a result of the last beta, so I won't be volunteering to do it again.

Hello everyone,

Few hours ago, Microsoft Store players received a mandatory update. This update rolls back MSFS to the World Update 8 version while keeping some SU9 packages. This results in preventing players to properly experience the sim (fly button greyed out and other issues).

While the team is investigating, we suggest Microsoft Store players not to update to the latest update.

We will keep you informed as we are currently working on this.

Thank you for your patience.

The MSFS Team.

I recommend that you use AddOn linker: https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker.  Your add ons can be placed in a folder that has nothing to do with the MSFS folder.  Add On linker can then create a virtual link from your add ons, to the Community folder in MSFS.

With AddOn linker, you won't lose your add ons (if you keep your add ons outside the MSFS folder structure), no matter how badly you mess up your installation of MSFS.  In addition, the MSFS team recommends that you remove all add ons from your Community folder for each Sim Update.  With AddOn linker, it's so easy to disable all your add ons, update MSFS with the latest Sim Update, and then turn on your add ons again.

I have not lost my addons I use Addon Llinker), but now all i get is the Xbox controller, and no hud along the top. No matter which settings i change it still remains the same, the Xbox controller info is displayed despite not having one connected.

Also when you do manage to get you aircraft selected and spawn in, there's no hud for selecting Camera's , Atc, weight etc. And the info describing the airport your spawning into is constantly displayed. What a cluster ****

SU9 Beta Testers, Don't load the sim....

The problem is the Addon Linker won't be very useful in THIS case. What's happening here, is that for some reason, the SU9 Beta Executable package ( ONLY the small 1.6 GB Store update ), has been rolled back, so the latest SU8 version came back as a mandatory update.

However, the packages in the "Official" folder hasn't been rolled back to, so now, if you perform the update, you'll end up with a weird mixup of the SU8 executable and the SU9 content. I tried starting it anyway, and the main menu was already messed up, so I just quit since it's clear the sim cannot work correctly in this state.

Fortunately, I still had my 2nd copy of the sim installed in Steam, and since this is a completely separate build, in which I'm not signed up for Beta ( there's no SU9 Beta on Steam as far as I know ), it's a "clean" SU8 working installation, so I could continue working (on GSX...) without having to wait for the Beta to be fixed again.

So, if you are SERIOUS about Beta testing, meaning for any reason you *must* keep using the sim, even if the Beta is having issues ( it's a Beta, issues are expected...), the only safe way to do this, is to buy a 2nd copy of the sim on Steam.

Omg!

Thank you for the warning.

not touching the sim until this CF is cleared up.

yes there is - been using it, but haven’t booted up MFS today to check these latest reported issues…

It broke my sim which would not load. I've had to remove myself from the beta and reinstall the sim. Even now it's not right. There's hysteresis left from the beta even though I've left it and done a fresh install.

Luckily i had backed up the packages folder to another drive just in case this time, so only a small 1.2gb download and back up running in SU8

Quite astonishing that MS still don't appear to have pulled the faulty update yet.
