SU9 Beta Testers Beware

Featured Replies

Feel bad .... I hope ya' all dont have to reinstall from scratch as this sounds like it could be a royal mess. Asobo are going to end up chasing all the BETA testers away....

Yep after the update which took 6 hours and 37gig of rubbish and what a mess going from bad to worse in my book

Having had to reinstall and exit the beta I'm left with the silly game pad loading screen and several items in the content manager which cannot be updated due to the wrong version number.

Disregard

Good Lord this must be the reason why the refresh on my laptop that hasn't had MSFS open in months is taking hours!  Can't wait to see what it looks like when its finally done (on its 8th hour and at 80%....sheez)

Who's minding the store in the beta department?  That person needs to be fired immediately.  I only hope this is managed by Asobo and not MS....if so...I'm scared about future Window's updates. 🤔

One thing's for certain though...all those simmers who thought they'd jump into the beta just to see new stuff and never really had any intention of testing are probably re-thinking that strategy right about now, LOL.

IMO...an "open beta" program to let anyone in who hits a few "I read and understand" buttons on a program this massive was a disaster waiting to happen...and by the looks of it...that waiting is over.🙄

I'm still trying to figure out if this will affect ALL MS Store owners, even ones not in the beta...the messaging is not clear on this, again part of the mismanagement and terrible idea to let "everyone" in on a beta that can potentially corrupt your whole MSFS install requiring many GBs of re-downloading...bringing their data platform to its knees and hundreds of thousands of "beta testers" re-download a combined terabytes of data.

This explains all the "MSFS has lost connection" messages I (and probably a lot of you) was getting last night.  And I happened to pick last night to turn on MSFS on my laptop and let it do an update...sheez...I stopped it this morning after 8 hours and only 80%.

Let's hope after all this...they re-examine their brilliant idea to let anyone join the beta, and pare it down to a realistic number.

Steve Dra

Another reminder of why I don't do beta testing anymore.

I'm away from home, but it sounds like this isn't affecting Steam users - anyone confirm this?

I think you will need to search out every file and folder related to MSFS and manually delete before you can move forwards with a re-instal from scratch. The Windows Registry too. You will have to hope you find all remnants... and also that you don't delete the wrong stuff. If your PC is exclusively for MSFS (or simming is really important to your well being), it would be easier on your blood pressure and far quicker to format and reinstall Windows... and then run a mile when you hear the word  BETA in the same sentence as Asobo and MSFS in future.

It might pay those with this problem to hang tight though - maybe Asobo will come up with a clean solution to reverse out of this error.

The imperfection is theirs.

You know what you get into when you join a beta branch.

Going Beta 9 made me uninstall MFS :-/

I would anyway should I go into today's mess with the bogus upate...

Will revisit by SU 10, if I can get in the mood by that time...

Thank you for posting this, I’m not in the beta, I have the msfs store version and was very curious on whether I would be affected.
